The stamp lady tried to scam us today by asking for $1 for a 3000 Riel stamp. Luckily, I'd already bought two from an honest worker at $0.75 each. We hope our postcards arrive

I kind of like the way the Siem Reap Post Office is run. I mean would you really be satisfied if it was run the same as thePost Office in your home town is run? I wouldn’t be. I would expect some kind of scam and be disappointed if there wasn’t that little bit of local charm.

Beware! They try to scam every tourist!!

A stamp for a postcard international is 3.000 Rial! Not 4.000 Rial, not 1$ (=4.000Rial).

But the staff tries to charge you more. Always!
Be self confident, stepp to the counter and say „Stamps for 3.000 Rial please“ and pay 3.000 per piece (0,75$).
Than you get them for the real, the correct price. They only fool tourist who don’t know and ask „How much is a stamp for a postcard to “. Than you pay 1$ a piece!!

So: I told you! Be self confident and don’t support corruption!!

We were scammed - they demanded 4000 Riel for 3000 Riel stamps. Presumably they pocket the rest. Local shops charge 4000 which seems reasonable. Battambang post office charge the face value of 3000 and were surprised that we had been overcharged here.

Nice people and fast service, helps that no one else was in the post office when we arrived. The place looks very clean and efficient. If you are looking to ship something back home this place can definitely hook you up.

Service was quick and not too busy here. They have post cards that you can buy here along with stamps. If you are looking to ship items back home they have boxes there for you to use. The service charges by the kilogram with different rates to each country. You can also choose between two different services, Sea Mail or Air Mail.

Clearly wanted our money. Stamp to Taiwan should have been for 2000 riels, but wanted us to buy for 3000 riels (same as to Germany). With 10 of our postcards, they got over 2 USD more from us.
And let me not forget about rude behavior: "Do you have 2000 riels stamps?" "Not have!" Unacceptable.

They sell stamps much more expensive then Phnom Pehn post office which makes no sense, and the woman in the counter is really rude.

Always check your stamp price, otherwise they will charge you more. Stamp lady is rude. and you can just hope that your letter will arrive..

The post office phone number is wrong. The phone number is for DHL. If you send things recorded delivery from SR to somewhere else in Cambodia, for example PP, it will take a week even with recorded delivery. You will then need to call one of the post office staff members on their personal mobile phone to confirm whether it has arrived or not. I have sent things from abroad to SR and if it is not sent by recorded delivery it does not arrive. A friend of mine sent a parcel in December by recorded delivery which has still not arrived so either the service is extremely slow or it has been lost or stolen which is more likely.

Place where you buy postcard $1 each and $0.75 for stamps. Postcards are more expensive than the bookstores in tourist area ($0.25) but is definitely more elegant
