So huge so beautiful so many things to explore in this temple n so many other small temples in the complex. Don't miss to check the rare species of bird statues located right just at the bottom of the bridge on the entrance to the main gate of temple. Oh, access to this temple can be tricky if you solely depend on Google Maps. Try the safe but not as good as you expect from the Sangkhum Thmei district where from national road no 62 it is about 18 kms with 30 mns drive to reach the district centre town n from there that's the hard part of 25 kms turning left to the temple. It takes perhaps 45 mns to 1 hour drive depending on season you choose to go. Don't forget to look on your right to check the sign to the complex of Preah Khan Kompong Svay temple.

A mixed feeling. The road there was torture. No signs. All dirt and bumpy as hell. Tons of small sandy roads you can get lost on. The temple itself isn’t all that impressive after angkor. If you want to see pre renovation temples there are easier ones to get too. Otherwise $5 to walk among rocks is mainly exiting for the history nuts.

An off-the-beaten-path experience in Cambodia. The temple is remote and in ruinous conditions. Road toward there is unpaved. But worth the visit because it has some big trees that even Ta Prohm does not have.

The Khmer historical site of PREAH KHAN KAMPONG SVAY is one of the least visited temple ruins Cambodia. It is 104 Km from the nearby provincial town of Kampong Thom and will generally take approximately three hours to reach there. NOTE: during the rainy season the travel time may be longer due to potholes filled with water in the final 50 kilometer stretch of dirt road. There is no public transport of any kind going out to this site so transportation must be with a hired four wheel drive vehicle or a motor cross bike. The price for trip to Preah Khan Khmer historical site in a hired four wheel drive vehicle = USD 100. NOTE: the best place to arrange for a vehicle hire is at the Arunras Hotel. The staff on the desk speak reasonable English and can put you in touch with a transport provider. NOTE: there is a laminated price chart at the Arunras Hotel giving the prices of all trips. These are standardised and not negotiable. I checked the price at three different hotels in kampong Thom, and they were all the same.
The best time for a visitation to the PREAH KHAN historical site is in the morning. The standard weather pattern in the area is hot in the morning and raining in the afternoon. For those getting serious about photography, I would suggest departing Kampong Thom at 5.00 AM. This will put you on site at about 7.30 – 8.00 AM. There is a USD 5 entry fee for each person.

Just as a precaution: do not try direct road from Phnom Dek Junction as after difficult (even in dry season) 8km the road ends and continues as a narrow sandy pass through the forest for another 25km. Our 125cc manual motorbike stuck there few times and we gave up. It took 20 minutes to ride 2km. You need 4WD or off-road bike.

no a proper way to go.i lost haft way to go. and only choice is to return back to Kampong Thom. i wish the ministery of tourism can provide us more sign on the road so that we can make it quick and sucess to the temple

Amazing, no touristic place, great vibretion. Only the Road can be a chalange to go there. Dedicated to Brahma.
