This hotel is one of just very few choices in Pursat (nov 29, 2013). We booked it for two nights initially (through Agoda), but discovered that for our next destination (Tataï Rainbow Lodge) we should either take a night bus, or travel in two days and spend a night in Phnom Penh. We preferred the second option, so decided to cancel the second night upon check-in. Beside the fact that they didn't even know about our reservation, and had to search a few minutes to find the Agoda reservation, cancelling the second night was of course no problem at all. Perfect, at least we thought..
The rooms are very spacious: Big surface, high ceilings, 2 double beds. It's so big that the A/C wasn't powerful enough. There's a balcony, but our balcony door was stuck. There was a big gap underneath the balcony door, which was an entry point for mosquitoes. Overall the hotel looked a bit old, and could use some maintenance and decoration. But on the other hand, Pursat isn't used to Western standards at all, so in that perspective it's quite luxurious. We rented two bikes to do some sightseeing, and that was nice. The bikes were in reasonable condition, however very small and quite expensive actually (5 dollar per bike).
At the morning of check-out we found out that we somehow already paid through Agoda. I actually understood my creditcard details were just to guarantee my reservation, but that was incorrect. Unfortunately we couldn't get a refund for the second night. Had we known this beforehand (when we showed our reservation which they had never seen before, and at the same time asked to cancel the second night), we would have stayed the second night as well and taken the night bus. The owners speak very little English, which is fine, but it didn't make this any easier. They explained that they didn't receive the money from Agoda yet, but instead received a check which they had to cash in. They didn't trust me and my girlfriend to not also make a claim at Agoda I guess, or they didn't trust the bank, so they kept refusing to give a refund.. I understood their concerns, but I was really disappointed.
I think overall 'disappointing' is the right word to describe this hotel if you expect it to be worthy of it's price (18 dollar per night, no breakfast). That is if you compare it to hotels in the same price range in Battambang, Phnom Penh, or Siem Reap. If you don't expect anything, this hotel is allright, I guess.. Oh, and don't book through Agoda! Beside the fact that the hotel couldn't change anything, the check they showed was a lot less than what Agoda charged me..
