Neat rooms , good food ,,, and most importantly the fun you get every single evening !! Especially the wednesday, “ BBQ & trivia night” .. The staffs , the most friendly and caring people on earth.. one day i was running high fever and every single staff took care of me like a family . If i get a chance to go back to Cambodia , this will be my first stop . Thanks a lot lazy gecko .

Expect seriously great food (burgers and curry in particular) and bomb ass trivia nights. Hilarious stuff that's super fun

A definite backpacker place, yet it often has a diverse clientle at the bar. I have never stayed here, but I have eaten and drank at the bar often. Good food, inexpensive drink prices, and you can order in food from some of the other restaurants on the street. Also, the staff is always very friendly.

The description of the Lazy Gecko provided on their website is absolutely spot-on. I'll list the things I especially liked about this establishment below.

    1. Despite being a hostel, this is an excellent place to simply hang out. Despite staying at a hotel across the street my first night in Phnom Penh, I found myself hanging out at the LG for most of my days and nights when I wasn't down by the river. It has excellent vibes and really is a super chill place.

    2. Excellent food. Like most establishments in Cambodia, the food was 10/10. It was good for relaxing day/evening meals, as well as curing that gnarly hangover you got from drinking until 6am talking politics with the owner.

    3. The rooms are exactly what one expects for what you pay for. Comfortable beds, clean linens, satisfactory showers, and even places to sit. No TV, but if you're watching TV in Phnom Penh you're definitely doing it wrong.

    4. The staff are all excellent company. They're all foreigners who've obviously been there a while, so they all know the cool things to do and see. If you need help, be it finding transport or recommendations the staff are happy to bend over backwards to help you get what you need.

    5. The location is fantastic. It's within walking distance to the Riverside, but if you're not a big walker there's also a constant tuk-tuk presence as well.

    6. In addition to the food, their drink menu is also quite fleshed out. I recommend the Grenade, just make sure you're ready when you pull the pin!

To sum things up, this is a fantastic place to stay if you're a younger traveler such as myself. Todd, the owner, is a fantastic conversationalist and overall a good guy that I look forward to seeing again. I will definitely be returning to the Lazy Gecko when I go back to Phnom Penh, and I recommend this establishment to anybody who is looking for an awesome hostel with all the fixin's.

Great chilled out place for a drink or a really convenient place to stay close to the river. Todd is an absolute gentleman.

Lazy Gecko is what an urban guesthouse/backpacker stop should be. Although under new ownership, it has been around for years, and it is much the same. Young crows--mostly under 30 somethings((n

But best part is proximity to downtown river seen (,walkable) while still being safe enough to hang out on the street at all hours-- probably even the fairer sex..

We actually didn't enjoy our stay here despite the many good reviews. We booked a deluxe double room. We were given a twin room with lots of dust, grime and ants on the floor, sheets with stains and dirt on them (they looked as if someone had stepped on them) and a bathroom that had not been cleaned properly. We later walked by an open door to a much nicer and free double room than the one we were given (also with AC). There were also no towels provided, no soap or toiletries - this is something that is provided in even cheaper guesthouses all over SEA. The shower was also cold throughout our stay. We were asked to pay upfront which hasn't been the case in other places in SEA. We left a "please clean room" sign on the door the next day. When we came back the sign had been turned around to the "please do not disturb" side and our room had not been touched. I am sure we left it on the "please clean room" side so either someone changed it as a joke or the staff changed it on purpose. The Western guys working there also had an attitude about them and weren't particularly friendly. I'd spend a bit more money and stay somewhere nicer because you get very little value for your money here.

There's no longer a brewery here but the owner kindly filled our water bottles and recommended Botanico which had good beer.

Dropped in to check it out as had heard about it but never had opportunity to go. Went at lunch time and had a couple of beers with owner. Very good host. Ate lunch there and food was of good portion and well cooked. Reasonable prices and good selection. Chatted with a few local patrons and customers and all spoke highly of personality and demeanor of mine host. All in all a top bar with cold beer, good food and reasonable prices. Would recommend a visit when in that part of town.

This was a great place to stop and have a drink. Jesse was an awesome bartender! The crowd was mostly 20-30 somethings and the place had a very relaxed vibe.

Cant say enough good things about this place! The staff are all so friendly and welcoming. The rooms are clean and bed extremely comfy. Nice hot showers too! The location is good distance from most major attractions. Can't beat $.75 draft beers ;)

Only thing to remember is to ask for your $10 deposit back for your room key- I forgot all about it!

Stay here- it's a great place!
