great value and a nice looking hotel. the rooms were good, I`m surprised that there are others complaining how dirty it was. this was not my experience at all. Cambodia is a very dry and dusty country, but I was glad to get to this clean room and have a shower. the bed was good and lots of interesting places in walking distance. fascinating country and would love to go back again. I will try to use this hotel too, I thought it was great.
This is an older hotel with lots of character. Huge carved mahogany chairs and furniture. Morning breakfast was very nice. Staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful.
*AVOID*
Problems arose on our 3rd of 3 nights when the toilet overflowed in the middle of the night (nobody was using it) putting toilet water all over the room. Although the staff were quick to come up this caused hours of disturbance and soaked our belongings- and we obviously had to pack and unpack again elsewhere. There was not even an apology from the hotel. They moved us to another room which had no wifi connection, and the sheets were covered in stains (see attached image). Again no apology from staff. The issues were raised with staff immediately, contrary to what the condescending rude women on reception on check out were saying.
We stayed for 3 days, this all happening on the last night which was the worst timing as we were on a 15+ hour flight the next day on no sleep. The reception staff said it was OUR fault for not pursuing the matters at reception!!- this was when checking out.
At the very least they should have apologised and given a discount of the final night, and moved us to a suitable clean room.
The hotel needs to train their staff in manners, cleanliness and procedures in such occasions as this.
Summary:
- Poor reception staff, poor housekeeping, poor food
+ Great staff other than reception, good location
Extremely dated but that is not necessarily a bad thing. Worst of it was that the hotel was filthy. The room had stained old pillows and sheets that stunk. A lot of dust and dirt around the room and on items in the room. Toilet had a permanent stench. Would not recommend. Could not get comfortable or relax at this hotel.
Close to the railway station and a few minutes from the river night-scene. Breakfast included was welcome but surroundings are a bit ghetto and no coffee in the room.
sorry two star only
Nice big rooms lots of space
It's stated 3-star but it's 2 at best. Even caravan park units in Australia is cleaner than that. It's very old. They do make an effort to clean but their cleaning standards are not convincing. The pillow smelled like accumulated stale hair grease and I believe it's not he pillow case but the pillow itself has not been changed for ages and they do not use pillow lining/protector. I don't trust the cleanliness of house-keeping (if they even have designated housekeeping staff) because when I asked for more toilet rolls, they sent a guy who just held the toilet rolls in bare hands. Now I know even house-keeping staff do handle toiletries, but the fact that the guy was not even in house keeping uniform tells me that he could be a technician or janitor or any staff and hygiene is suspect. The air-conditioner needs servicing badly because within 30-40 min of switching it on, I had to take antihistamine and my air passage felt tight. The pillow smell and dirty air-con filter really gave me a terrible night. No signs of bed bugs when I did a visual check but really, I would pay another USD$20 more to stay in a better hotel with cleaner rooms. A staff of the meeting organizer booked this for me, and if I had known it's of such condition, I wouldn't have stayed. I did change hotel after the first day.
Good location, comfortable, good breakfast
Hotel was comfortable! It had everything you would need for people who are touring! Except our fridge didnt work.
