You can buy some of souvenir in Kampi resort.
$9.00 per-person in the high season for a one hour boat trip to see the dolphins.
It is suitable cost and we enjoy riding boat with beautiful riverside, sand; especially, psoat.
This is actually a scam. That's how I felt, after I paid 9$, and the boat driver took me 2km along the shore, and stopped there. True, there are dolphins, popping out every once in a while, to breath, so you can see their backs, it nice, but that's not the scam. The scam is that if I only knew, I would have taken my motorbike 2km up the road, to the north, crossing a large bridge, there is a way down to the river and from there I could have watched the dolphins for free, in the exact same manner.no need to pay 9$ for the boatmen to bring you to a place you can go for free. And, of course, there were locals there taking photos from the shore, just next to the boats. I was sure that the boat would take me into the wide river, maybe between the numerous islands there. Nothing. 3 minutes sail along the shore and stop. Save your money. DIY.
We went there late in the afternoon, when dolphins supposedly are more active (according to our tuk-tuk driver). It's not hard to see them, but forget about taking pictures unless your camera has a powerful zoom and you possess Spiderman's spider-sense. Just enjoy the experience.
Just take a seat on the stairs. Probably this is only pissible when there are no tourist, but I was sitting there alone an could just watch the dolphins in the river 30 meters away from me. Many dolphins!
Well, not much to see on the photo. :D
Great experience, we saw probably 7-8 dolphins (November 3rd 2016) ! 9USD/pers, we were two in the boat. We went there by bicycle from Kratie city with a 30 km ride (both ways) !
The official ticket booth for boats to watch the dolphins on the Mekong. At only 7$ this was a truly memorable and very authentic, slightly off the beaten track, experience. They run boats for anyone, as and when you turn up, with a maximum duration of 1.5hr. They seemed to know exactly where to go, we saw tens of dolphins, and were very respectful of the creatures' space. Note Irrawaddies are very cautious and not the type of dolphin to swim alongside or to close to the boat. After watching the dolphins our driver (Gan, I think?) suggested a swim off a nearby sandbank. Absolutely yes! Both experiences I shall remember for a long time to come.. Try cycling here from Kracech/Kratie (about 12km one way) to really see the local area!
Market and ticket to see the dolphins.
