Very tough to reach but the travel is worth it. Only a small portion is restored. Spectacular reliefs describing the life during Khmer empire.

A big gem of a temple off the common itineraries. When we visited, there was hardly a visitor a day in the register. This was built in the likeness of Angkor Thom by Jayavarman 7 himself and equals Bayon in it's splendor. Most of the temple is literally a sea of rubble which you've to navigate with considerable skill. However the outer gallery or what's left of it houses incredible bas-reliefs depicting the day to say life and warfare a thousand years ago. These were used to reconstruct the erstwhile society of the Khmer empire. Definitely don't miss!

Really great temple. Peaceful setting and it's likely that you get to have the place for yourself, as not many tourists visit this gem. Admission is $5pp, tour guide is $10. Definitely get the guide, we would've missed so much of it otherwise, and they tell you a lot about the history of the place.

To get there, don't get an expensive taxi from your hotel. Go to the New Market in Sisophon. We paid $5pp each way, which was >50% cheaper than what the hotel wanted.

Historical and one of the important temple. Trees on temple and broke into pieces as nature of thing so sad. Better visit before is gone.

An amazing place to visit away from all the crowds you find at the other major temples around Siem Reap.

A real cultural experience walking through the ancient ruins and meeting the friendly locals as you wander around Banteay Chmmar village.

Definitely worth the time and effort to get there, and choose one of the local home-stays to overnight if you have time, so you can visit the temple at sunrise and hear the birds and monkeys come to life as the light filters through the jungle canopy overhead.
