Good and friendly managers
When our bike broke down close to the sarus crane reservation, the current guide and manager of buffalo cafe Bona couldn't have been more helpful. He talked to the mechanic for us to get it fixed (our Khmer is minimal) then he took us around the reservation and introduced us to his lovely family, then when it was time to leave he got one of his friends who was going to kep to show us the way back. One of the best days I have had in Cambodia so far.
Super nice. Cool birds and nice staff, good guides and helpful. Payed 10dollars to "get in" but thats to keep the area sustainable.
Wile visiting Cambodia in August with my wife. We visited when the Cranes were not migrating in the area. We were rather glad, in a way, because instead we tried a few of the local tours. We visited local villages, rice planting and wine making. We deeply enjoyed the authentic experience and were just amazed with how happily we were greeted.
I'm sure the cranes are beautiful, but I highly recommend some of the other local tours to see and support some of the local villages!!!
