Angkor Thom is a far superior temple complex compared to Wat for a few reasons. Firstly, there is only a fraction of the tourists so it’s not overwhelmed and you also don’t get harassed by hawkers. Secondly, it is a lot more intricate with faces carved into almost every facade and three, it is easy to walk to several other sites nearby

Historical building and beautiful art. We still wonder this heaven place in the forest but we really pity the oldest temple to stand up and fighting with the sun and raining.

Banyan and strangler fig trees have withstood the test of time at Angkor Thom. In person, it looks like an alien and host. The ancient trees have conquered in some places, scattering the temple walls onto the floor.
Without the use of mortar during construction, Angkor Wat is the largest religious monument in the world. Between 5 million and 10 million sandstone blocks were used: far greater amounts of stone than all the pyramids of Egypt put together! Some of the temple stones are shifting and collapsing (shown in photo).

This is such an awesome place. Epic ruins everywhere. Ancient buildings in very good condition. I recommend for everybody who want to see something epic. I think one day is not enough to see everything in this place. I rented bikecycle and tried to ride around all the temples but it's impossible. I am sure that I saw the biggest temples but not everything. So if you want to clearly see everything and just relax it's better to buy 3 days pass. I remember that I bought 1 day pass for 37$.

What a truly wonderful place on earth! It's magical! I have very much enjoyed visiting Angkor Thom as well as several other temples.
To be quite honest, the only negative point is the rudeness of many Chinese tourists who simply don't respect some basic rules (clearly stated in different languages in each temple) and their guides don't seem to keen on asking them to shut up and respect the site and other visitors.

We felt amazed to see Angkor Thom. The architecture was incredibly beautiful. The faces on each wall were impressive. It was blended with the nature nicely. We saw many big trees merging with the wall of Angkor Thom amazingly. Once in your lifetime, you need to visit here.

Wow. Well worth a visit. The temples are truly outstanding. I took a wander through the forest and came across some slightly less restored temples which were fascinating. Give yourself at least two hours to explore here and bring water as it is very, very hot. A must see if you are in Siem Reap or even Cambodia.

My favourite of the Angkor complexes.

Unfortunately it does get quite (very!) busy here so I would recommend visiting as early as possible. You probably don't need more than 30 minutes here for a quick tour but you could easily spend much more time.

This site is known for the many faces of Buddha depicted across the site.

One of the most stunning structures in whole area. Actually took two days to see it in full. There is a hut outside describing key features and history of conservation. Buy and read a book which is available at 5-7 dollars. Spent time to view the panels, it's characters and story described in it. That will be one of your best experiences in life.

A great ruins complex which was found in the forest. It's fantastic to do the visit in the fortified wall 3km long surrounded with vast moat.

Plan to spend a long time at Angkor Thom. It's huge, and there's lots to see. There's great food available within the complex, and access to public restrooms. Bayon temple (with all the large faces) is stunning.

Amazing place. Also called baton temple! This is the original Hindu temple of old. Come early. Always go early. Not too many people and choose non tourist season however Chinese tour here year round so be ready for very large groups.

Membayangkan membawa batuan tersebut dan menyusunnya sudah terasa luar biasa. Belum lagi ketika mereka membuat langit langit lorong yang juga dengan bebatuan.
Dan di sini batuan tersebut dipahat membentuk wajah di 4 sisi. dan bukan cuma satu tapi banyak!

Definitely a must go. The place looks ancient and the many faces are interesting to see. Try to replicate the picture I did with the 'kissing/ nosing buddha'.

World Heritage. Highly recommended to visit here once in a life time. During day time, here is quite super hot. So bring the hat and cover or put on sunscreen as much as you can. Drink lots of water.

Angkor Thom is actually an entire ancient city dotted with numerous ancient temples.

We visited Bayon, which is the one with the famous heads on the pillars. Fantastic place if you can avoid the tour groups all sitting at each other. Had for the labyrinth of lower courtyards to avoid the crowds.

There are so many other temples it is worth a dive through just to see them. I recommend a tuck tuck for the best views.

Be prepared to walk quite a bit (climbing up, and down, extremely steep and narrow steps). I started early and most of the day was cloudy. Still, the humidity may get you. The amount of stone carvings is amazing, even in ruins. Restroom facilities, depending on where you are in the temple area, could be a good walk in itself to get to. In the end, all worth it. I did hire a private car and tour guide.

Compared to the nearby temples, Angkor Thom is more of a remnant of an ancient city surrounded by a huge wall with some parts of the central structure still intact. This is the place where most of the sights are, though not many structures remain as compared to other sites nearby. Consider putting this on as the last place to visit out of all.

As you approach this temple it looks absolutely amazing. We arrived around midday and were lucky as it wasn't crowded. The faces in all the towers look great and once you climb the stairs you are right in the middle of the ancient temple and it feels like you've just travelled back in time. Don't miss out this temple.

Some people could argue this place is overcrowded, but it is not overrated. Take your time and enjoy the details on the building, appreciate the structure, try to place yourself in a different time. The whole complex deserves time, do not rush your way into different areas and temples. You probably will be here once in your life.

Angkor Thomas was our third temple that day (after Angkor Wat and Ta Prohm) and yes, it was incredible too - but after an entire day of walking and being impressed we were done to be frank. Initially we wanted to visit Angkor for two days, but we skiped that as we didn't want to force ourselves to visit _all_ the temples just because 'we are already there'. Honestly, if you're not an archeologist or a historian, one long day does it 100%. My favorite part of Angkor Thom was probably one of the four gates leading into that temple complex.

Magnificent place. The gates guarded by colonnades of stone warriors holding big serpents are amazing. Don’t rush to the ruins after passing the gate, spend some time in the jungle where you can feed little macaque monkeys - they will come to you to take bananas out of your hands. They are ultra-cute, but make sure you leave your belonging in the car/mini-van/bus – they are curious and would like to inspect and even take your bags, cameras etc. and play with them for a while. The city ruins themselves are amazing, big and impressive site, one you should not skip. The most impressive of all is the Bayon temple.
