I What inspired me use of bullet brass and bomb fragments in my work?
I use bullet casings and bomb shells as I want to showcase the plight of Khmer people and what they have had to endure in our recent past. I believe it is a strong statement about my country and what the Khmer people can do and expresses hope rising from tradgic circumstances that inspires my designs. Turning something negative that was used to kill millions of Khmer people, including my dad, into something of beauty, hope, strength and endurance! From war to peace! And I pray Cambodia will continue to remain at peace!
I also love that I have the ability to recycle and upcyle a bullet or a bomb shell that would otherwise not be reused and give it a new life and to see my designs inspire others and further raise awareness of Cambodia and our history and hopefully future for the people and their families.
