AVT actually fixes things when they go wrong, which is the best you can hope for in SE Asia, because things often go wrong. We booked from Siem Reap to Pakse. The hotel pick up was excellent, the ‘pre-brief’ was great and something I haven’t seen any other company do in SE Asia. They tell you, in English, what should happen on your trip (with pics). Listen to the briefing, and make sure that what you are told should happen, does happen. If it doesn’t, contact AVT.

The trip from Siem Reap to Laos border was great. The Laos partner AVT relies on mucked us around a bit, but once I raised this with AVT (Ramiro), he insisted on refunding that portion of the trip. Communication was great and will definitely book with them again. I recommend AVT if you want peace of mind.

They're much better companies in town.

Review update: To illustrate the "technical inspection and certificates" of the vehicle mentioned by the manager, please see the pictures of the van that transported us. The owner said that the van does not belong to his company and after investigating our issue he said that our original van had a failure and that he had to find a replacement solution for our journey from Stung Treng to Kratie. We haven't been informed about anything at that time and the manager there pushed us into that van that was literally falling appart. Funny that another review here described the same situation for the same route.. It makes us think that the company is subcontracting to a cheap local taxi and makes you pay the full price.

Anyway, here is the story of our journey to Kratie:
Once in the van, we were surprised to be sharing it with locals that probably only paid a fraction of what we did. We were 4 foreigners and probably something like 15 locals sitting on each other. We tried to explain that the vehicle was over capacity but we've been ignored by the driver who became extremely angry when 2 other foreigners decided to not travel in there because of the poor conditions of the vehicle. The driving was mad; 90kmh on narrow roads, in the rain, with a vehicle falling apart that didn't even have seatbelts. We asked him to slow down all way long without success. At some point, he stopped to pick up even more people and when he left the vehicle, the van started to run down the road as he didn't trigger the hand brake properly. I had to jump at the front to stop the vehicle myself
When we in Kratie, we decided to not let it go and went to the office of the bus station where we have been stopped. The guys there couldnt understand english but when someone translated our complaints, they lough at us and we understood there was not much we could do.

We are aware that we cannot expect the same driving standards as in Europe after being driving in India, Cuba, Mexico, Myanmar, China.. This remains however by far the worst driving experience we ever had and for those reasons, we do not recommend AVT for your trip in Cambodia. Better to pay these 5$ extra and use another company.

Yeah not a bad trip from the border to Siem Reap, clear instructions by email and no major hiccups. I’m deducting a star because as per a previous reviewer, there were no seatbelts that I could see in our van from Stung Treng to Siem Reap despite what the owner said in his rather aggressive reply, and the driver drove extremely “enthusiastically” - so much so that I met my Apple Watch move goal WHILE IN MY SEAT. Anyway not bad for SEA transit, roll with it guys!

Same same, but same bad service as usual. I don't know why but I really expected something better and different when I booked my trip from the cambodian border with Laos to Siem Reap with AVT.

My experience was good during the prior days (quick booking confirmation, good email communications, AVT shared valuable information with me to cross the border) but very poor and disappointing in the end. Because

1) AVT didn't drive us to our hotels in Siem Reap as it's said in its website. AVT dropped us off somewhere in the downtown and that's all.

2) We all got OLD MINIVANS (NO SEAT BELTS!!). Some of us actually had to wait an extra hour to change the minivan due to ENGINE PROBLEMS (water leak).

3) AVT staff was nice but CHAOTIC at organizing the groups for the minivans (I was told up to 3 times to get in a different minivan). Also AVT staff handled our LUGGAGE with NO CARE at all.

Maybe AVT provided a good service in the past, but as far as I could check myself now is a company like any other. No value.

Was a bit afraid after reading lot of difference opinions about it but I came to Siem Reap from the 4000 islands with my friend, and we had a good time, to be honest.
There was an issue after we crossed the border as I couldn’t find my original ticket, so I had to pay another one to get into the last bus that was going to SR. However, I found back my ticket after some minutes. When we arrived to the office in Siem Reap, I explained everything to the owner as at the end I paid twice for the same ticket, and everything has been solved within a day. Great and responsive service. Recommend. Thanks!

Good service overall! I have traveled with other companies in Cambodia, and Asian Transfer do a good job. Everything on time, they explained very clearly how the journey from Siem Reap to Don Det was going to be, not crazy drivers. Good enough!

The only legitimate transport from Siem Reap to the 4000 islands. Yes, it's about $5-$6 more per person but the owner provides excellent recommendations of what to do in Laos and gives a step by step explanation of the trip, which requires 3 separate buses and a ferry.

Traveled from Siem Reap to Don Det, Laos. Trip was thoroughly explained (including photos) when we purchased tickets and then again the morning of our departure. Process was fairly seamless. Changed vans several times - some more comfortable than others - but got to our destination safe and sound.

We went from Siem Reap to the 4000 Islands and from there to Pakse by bus, crossing the border to Laos. Organization and execution by AVT was very good. Of course: We are not in Europe or the States. Things are working different. People in the office of Siem Reap were very friendly and explained every detail in advance, if necessary two or three times. On our way we had some changes of the bus, as planned. In each place we were a little bit confused, at the first moment, but people were always helpful, nice and brought everything to a good order. By this we are very content with AVT, who managed this trip!

I really want to recommend this company, this is the best trip I have done in SE Asia. It was the first time I was told exactly the procedure of the trip, the stops, the place to eat, toilets, etcexplained in English. Also the leaflet with images of the border, the crossing and the arrival in Don Det is very helpful. Border crossing was smooth and easy; it was exactly as we were told and we were not scammed. We were just charged the stamp fee (2$ in both sides of borders)just like the owner of the company explained us with details before departing from Siem Reap. The van was comfortable with 10 passengers, the boat was a great ride and we arrived in Don Det at 4.30pm. We also stayed at Oi Sunset Bungalows in Don Det, a place recommended by the owner of AVT, which I also recommend for everybody who wants to be relaxed and have a great Lao food!

My wife and I used AVT twice in Cambodia: Siem Reap-Banlung and Banlung-Don Det. Key reason for chosing them is that they were the only ones driving to Banlung, and they had rather good google reviews.

The general management seems performant.
-AVT answers quickly and efficiently to requests, providing practical details about the trips that are very useful
-The pick up has always been on time
-we have always arrived at destination at the announced time or earlier.
-prices seem reasonable but I have no means to compare with other companies as this is the sole one we used in Cambodia.

However
-be aware that seatbelts safety standards are lower than European ones. The vans use "waist type" belts. These have been removed from European vehicles because they do not protect well in case of accident.
-We have several times been in what we consider dangerous situations caused by the drivers: dangerous overtakings, using the mobile phone while driving, taking a oneway street in the forbidden direction, rushing the van at 110km/hr on roads where you should be below 60, looking at the passenger behind them they are discussing with instead of the road.

We used AVT to get from Laos Cambodia border to Siem Reap. They sent a great email with tips on the border crossing and the timeline for our trip. We only had 4 people in our van so I was able to stretch out. Another passenger had to nudge and talk to the driver as he appeared to start dozing off.

The van ride was just as expected. A separate ride from Don Det to the border, another van to Stung Treng. Transfer again to Sien Reap. The vans were comfortable and the new road is nice for Cambodian standards. Overall enjoyed the ride with AVT.

the drivers were very kind and helpful. when I passed the border to Combodia, they were already waiting here to pick me up to Siem Reap. So scared that I had to changed the van, that guy drove so fast but safety. I arrived Siem Reap in shortest hour cause just only me and him in that van. besides, in got a free tuk - tuk transfer from AVT office to my hotel. Many thanks for that!

We were picked up at our hotel by a tuktuk at 7:30 who brought us to the ATV office. There, the owner explained to us what the trip would be and gave some handy tips for the border and currency exchange. Arrived at a restaurant for lunch at around 13:00, left again at 14:00 in another van to the border, where we arrived at 16:00. In laos we changed to yet another van. In Ban nagasang we took a small boat to the islands. We were in our guesthouse on Don Khone at 18:00. Overall a good trip for US$25 pp (including small bottle of water, pickup from hotel and boat to 4000 Islands), yet changing vans two times seems a bit unnecessary and the vans were not the newest. Also, no discount for children, but this is normal for Cambodia (they tend to pay full price or nothing).

We wanted to go from Siem Reap to 4000 islands Laos. We went to the office directly and we really loved the way the women there explain the trip. Clear as crystal water, with what you will pay in the border, with tips to avoid scams and also the AVT will not scam you (a lot of other companies that cover the trip, they "offer you" to help you with the Visa but they ask you for far more money than necessary - it happened to us in another trip). With them this won't happen. It includes the boat, which other agencies we looked don't do it. They use a quicker route (so they don't stop to other cities like Kratie to leave passengers and taking new ones). Also pickup from the Guesthouse and a small bottle of water.
The only thing to say is that the AC didn't worked perfectly and it was really hot. For the rest, perfect. We looked a lot of options, a lot of them more expensive, only few of them cheaper, but the cheaper ones weren't clear about the Visa and the stops of the route, were far more slowly and did'nt include the boat. So deciding was easy, and we decided well.

We took AVT twice. Once Siem Reap-Kratie and once Kratie-Don Det (Laos). In both cases you need to change van in Stung Treng.
There is not much choice of companies for those destinations and AVT is reliable. They respected the number of passengers and were on time. Going through the border to Laos went smoothly. The explanations received in Siem Reap about the itinerary were clear as well.
But unfortunately the vans were old and uncomfortable. I was expecting more for that price! I already travelled with other express minibus companies in Cambodia who offered more (included wifi) for a better price and same duration of travel.
If you are unlucky to be on the behind seats you'll have no leg room and the seats don't recline. By the way they don't respect the numbering of seats you ask when booking! We were supposed to be behind the driver, someone took our seats and refused to move and the driver did nothing about it.
I recommend you try to enter the van first to get a better seat.
Overall, I think investing in new vans would be great to improve their service.

We've been travelling with AVT from Siem Reap to 4000 islands on the 23rd of December. Organization and transport from our hotel was perfect, the owner Ramiro is best organized.

Ramiro knows a lot about Cambodia and how these courageous people survive despite a government that is corrupt, violent and exploiting the poor.

To us Ramiro is a credible man that takes care of his staff by assuring them and even taking over the costs for consultations by a doctor.

From our point of view AVT is the most recommenable company! Top organized and a credible owner!
