  Beware of terrible exchange rates for foreign currency at ANZ ATMs. I got charged around 8% more than other banks' ATMs, so in addition to the $5 fee, I also paid about an extra $25 on my $300 withdrawal. That's too much.
  
  What happens is there's a display that asks you to choose "foreign currency" or "local currency". I didn't understand what that meant, but it seems to mean "foreign rate" or "local rate". The first time I pressed "foreign" and I got a regular rate, so I went back to the machine and pressed "local" without understanding what it meant. I got charged 8% extra. No other ATM had this scam with two rates.
  
  They do actually display the terrible rate on the screen, but they shouldn't have it at all and a button saying "foreign currency" and "local currency" is misleading - the word "rate" should be used. Anyway, no other bank that I used has this unacceptable practice, so I will avoid ANZ from now on.
