A very surprising construction in the middle of the Tien Shan mountains. A stop not to miss, if you take the road between Bishkek and Kashgar. Ask Tursun edje, who lives in front, the key to visiting what is considered today as a caravanserail but perhaps as a fortress or religious place.

This is a spectacular building. Taking from the original silk route have stayed and used this buildings services. It's a must visit. Lots and lots of history resides within it's walls. The underground chambers are probably bigger than the structure above ground. A must visit.

Old stop in old silk road with kirgisian womon selling handkraft on 3500m! To be there like in the time Marco Polo in the middle high mountin and horses on the step.

Fascinating, restored caravanserai in a striking setting, eliciting images of trading caravans on this part of the silk road.

Impressive location, visit does not require a lot of time. Ideally to be combined with a hike.

Such a special and unique place - it's a real slice of the Silk Road. It is a long way to get there and I do wonder if it's worth the time just to see the building. I would suggest spending a bit longer in the valley going for a hike or a horse ride as well. You can also stay in a yurt for the night, which is pretty cool!

Awesome place. The building is well preserved and very interesting. To me, Tash Rabat was the starting point for my very first horse ride to the mountains. Can only recommend.
