Spartan sleeping arrangement, but the beds all have individual curtains which is great

Duet was fantastic. Very, very clean. The host, Ana, runs a tight ship. Loved it so much I stayed for weeks. Poked about some of the other hostels in Karakol, and I'll be frank--they're nice too. Especially Nice (the name of the hostel). But, Duet has something they don't: Ana. She will bend over backwards to make your stay a memorable one.

For instance, another chap staying in the hostel the same time as me lost his bank card. Ana helped call the bank and even helped follow up after she'd left out of town. She'll look out for you. This is the kind of friendly service you can expect.

She speaks perfect English as well, so you have nothing to worry about!

Edit: One more reason to stay at Duet that I initially forgot. Ana is involved in a local social entrepreneurship group. They're socially responsible and give back to the community. When I was there they were doing a food drive for the needy. Staying at Duet supports local, socially responsible business. They do fantastic work!

This hostel is one of the best I have stayed at in the entire world. It has all the amenities, is reasonably priced, spotlessly clean, and run by friendly people. It is a true home away from home.

Absolutely loved the place! Very clean and comfortable, nice social atmosphere and Ana was there to help with every need or question we had. Also the breakfast was really nice!
Couldn't think of a better place to stay, thanks a lot!

No hot water if you're last one to come and a bit overpriced breakfast (go to market instead, unless you are lazy).

Otherwise a very nice place to stay in Karakol. Friendly personal. Easy to find and hitch-hike to. Grocery store next doors.
