Nice kebabs and nyama choma
Authentic Swahili dishes. Friendly owner and staff
The original ricoda cafe was one of the go-to places for visitors in Mombasa. Open until late night in the eighties, the place was packed to capacity every night during the holiday season. What drove people in were sumptuous charcoal grilled kababs, served with salad, toast bread and a small selection of chutneys. Not royal fare by any means, but delicious nonetheless.
The old man running they place passed away a few years ago, but it is still a family run business, albeit in another location in magical old town kibokoni.
The décor is ramshackle, service is wanting, but the kababs are still as awesome as they were twenty years ago. A must visit for all BBQ lovers.
Update on my review: the restaurant recently underwent renovations, and the facelift has done wonders for the place.
