It's a fascinating environment, you'll love it especially on sunsets and sunrise. Good for picnics and team building. I would totally recommend to anyone who wants some fresh air and good peaceful environment.
This is a beautiful place to go for an outing as a group or family. It provides beauty taking views and a break from all the hustle and bustle of City life.
One is advised to dress warm but light because it's very windy and a light shower can catch you unawares. There's a wind farm where electricity is generated by the massive windmills making the views even more memorable.
Carry snacks coz there are no shops nearby.
Ngong Hills, majestic and awesome, with excellent view on Nairobi City and the Rift-valley. The place is windy and refreshing, with a good place to hike. The wind power stations have added to the interesting view, it is very enchanting to watch the huge blades whipping through the wind. You can never have enough of this place
Went for a very good hike early morning. It's very windy and misty though wear warm clothes and a warm hat/marvin. Gate charges as per attached pic but if you get there early you don't pay since guards haven't arrived. Otherwise a very nice place. PS: there's a newly opened restaurant on top of the hill, haven't visited but have seen the pics, looks awesome and has a great view.
The first parking lot, where you pay at the booth, is not actually the best starting point to hike. Keep driving further up the hill to the top of the windmills and you will come to another parking lot. From there, you can start the up-and-down repetitions over the "knuckles." Don't be fooled by the term Ngong "Hills." The ascents are actually fairly strenuous for some. The views are beautiful over the first several hills as the path is wide open. Later on, the trail becomes wooded and less enjoyable. The hike is best enjoyed with a group for safety. We had an armed guide along as well (supposedly for the buffalo), but he wasn't very helpful and didn't seem too necessary. The hike is somewhat repetitive obviously, so it's not as enjoyable as climbing to the summit of a mountain. For me, it was a "once and done" kind of deal, but I'm glad to say I've done it. Now I can check it off my Kenya bucket list.
Great outdoor experience especially for groups. You will have to pack a jacket as it gets quite chilly and windy in the evening. My goal is to eventually trek the whole way to the end.
The public and visitors to the park should stop throwing litter especially plastic water bottles in the park.
Otherwise the place is awesome to unwind. One should ensure they wear warm clothes as it gets colder and windy as you go up the hill.
If you're visiting during the hot season, best to wear a cap or sunscreen. For those affected by dust carry masks. Good picnic sites.
Wao! Great adventure. We enjoyed the cool breeze, very fresh uncontaminated air, great scenery, and ooh! Had real fun climbing up and down the mountains.
Great place for picnics, adventure, prayer, n offers a nice getaway for love ones to just walk together n catch up.
Great day outing! It takes close to an hour drive in the best conditions (Sunday morning), but that could stretch to a couple of hours, if you need to cross town to get there
However, once you are there, the beauty of the scenery surrounding the area, the views stretching to Nairobi and surrounding mountains is breathtaking.
I highly recommend hiking to the highest peak (about an hour and a half if going slowly), but be sure to go with an armed park ranger.
Air so fresh. Amazing view. Great for a family hike and picnic
This place has a birds eyeview of the City of Nairobi and all its surrounding areas.
It is a good place for a hike.
Even on a very hot day you cannot feel the heat as there is a very cool breeze that beat you and cools you down.
Nice location, very cheap to get in to, costs between 100 and 400 shillings. If you drive past power station and through the trees you come out on the other side of the hills and can see down into the Rift Valley which is an incredible view, brilliant for sun downers and/or a picnic. Beware it's very very windy up there. No infrastructure but beside the road though (ie toilets etc).
The scenery here is to die for🤗🤗. For those who love walking and love the outdoors will enjoy the experience..Great for group events and spending time with family. The breeze helps with the climb. I enjoyed my experience.
You'll enjoy this place better when you go there early in the morning. It's cold and misty and you will do more and tire less.
The wardens will tell you of a buffalo 🐃 attack, don't believe those low life cons.
Especially when they tell you to pay guard fees directly to their mpesa numbers.
DON'T.
LOVELY PLACE IN GENERAL. apart from the wayward guards.
A very cool place. the Wind power farm is amazing. If you need clean and nice air away from Nairobi city, you ought to visit here
Nice hiking venue. Can be a bit of a challenge if attempting all hills and back on first try. Also very windy at some points but the scenery is worth it
A cool place to hike with friends. The air is very fresh with a cool breeze, I can visit the Hills as many times as possible.
Take the challenge and hike the beautiful Ngong hills. C. 13 kms across dynamic views and dramatic landscape. Amazing.
Awesome place, numerous hills to climb. It's a good hiking ground. Cool and massive wind turbines.
Really good view and good ground for a picniclittle windy during the evening so make sure you carry a jacket
Nice Hill Station With Wind Mills
Nature and natural greenery is just amaizing n peacefull
How wonderful is this? 3 hour walk from Barifi Corner to the top (and that is half way to the other side) and back. Splendid views.
This is a Kenya Forest Reserve so the is a charge of 200 to 600 at the entrance. And a small charge to the local security .
I loved the scenery. The wind turbines wow. Its all breathtaking
An awesome way to spend a Saturday. There is a choice to hike or ride up the hills. The air is so fresh and the scenary is breathtaking. There are armed guards provided incase you run into buffalos or a hyenas though these are rare. The guards also ensure that your group stays safe from any unruly characters. The area has had some reported cases of having thugs though security has been stepped up. All in all, Ng'ong Hills are an amazing getaway for a day out of the noisy city. The hills are also popular with hikers prepping for a mountain climb.
Beautiful ridgeline to hike along. The staff will try to ask you to hire an armed guard because of wild animals, but this isn't necessary.
The hike isn't as easy as you might assume. One of the best views of the rift valley especially during sunset.
Divine n a place to get some peace of mind
After reading the reviews, we decided to avoid the heat of the day and arrived at the gate at 8 am on a Sunday (it's not really well signed, we went by uber and it was complicated to get there). It was so misty that we couldn't see 10 steps ahead of us, and totally windy and cold. We told the guard at the gate that maybe we should wait but he insisted in us going as it was going to clear soon. We were told we could only get to the 3rd hill, as there were buffalos after that and could be dangerous. It took us literally 30 min to get to the 3rd hill. Mist hadn't cleared, the views were nonexistent and we struggled to walk due to the wind and the cold as we were not wearing warm clothes (we had sun screen and hats and summer clothes as thought the heat was going to be unbearable). It was so cold at the top that we decided to get down before it cleared. We were told by our guard (lovely lady btw) that the mist is normal in the morning hours and it was not going to clear until 10-11 am (why weren't we told this before?!). When we got back the mist started to clear and the view was indeed stunning, but that's not why we paid KES 600 per person + KES 1200 for the guard + KES 2500 for the Uber. We wanted a relaxing Sunday walk with nice views not a a 30-min struggle in the mist to not see a thing
Advice:
- Don't go too early!!! People started arriving at 10 am when we were leaving.
- Wear appropriate clothes for the wind and cold
- The hike is easy, not to demanding
