Quiet and serene, with little human activity. Perfect spot for camping when in Kisumu and you need serenity

An interesting place to spend one day
But don't get your expectations high the island has nice landscape and you can enjoy hiking but it is very difficult to spot wildlife (the few that exists on the island)
Just make sure you start early in the morning, in order to avoid the strong sunlight - most of the island is not covered by trees
Hiking can be great! Make sure you 'deviate' from the trails and walk into the forest a little, then it's more possible to see some zebras
We were lucky and spotted some zebras from far away
Be prepared and have your own snacks and water/soft drinks because there is nothing on the island
And now about the service I can say that paying 25 USD for this island is not a good value for money, but this is the price for non-residents that is fixed by the Kenya Wildlife Services. Keep in mind that you have also to pay on top the boat ride to the island, since it is operated by the local community, then you have to add another 20-30 USD for that (that's for th e whole ride, not per person)
So all in all a nice experience to spend a day in the weekend but a bit pricey for what is offeredresponse / report this review -

Great place to visit for a day trip/camping and picnic but poor accessibility makes me give a low rating. Comparable to crescent island Naivasha but less game, grand scenery and beautifull landscape! Great KWS customer service.
