You can get assistance about Kenya Railway routes and even get assisted into booking. It is close to major bus stops like those plying towards Ngong, Ongata Rongai and Mombasa Road.

The commuter train is okay. I've not yet tried the SGR. Just one bad experience with the commuter train when I had to sit for 3 hours to reach Syokimau station.

Come take a look at the oldest mode of transport. There's a slight difference with locomotives stationed here and the much hyped SGR (Standard Gauge Railway)

Taking the old overnight train from this station to Mombasa is truly an experience that shouldn't be missed if you have the time (delay can be up to 12 hours). As for the station everything seems stuck in time, with the restrooms seemingly haven't been cleaned in years, the station manager tried his best to make the hours spent here as pleasant as possible though and with a bit of cleaning and renovation this place could become a beautiful monument to a time gone by.
