Very close to the beach. Some rooms have nice balconies that give panoramic views of the ocean. So nice.

Mombasa continental is a small hotel/beach resort in Shanzu. It's a bit run down on the outside, but relatively good on the inside. The hotel has only one pool which is not too big (though a small baby pool is present). The food is of average quality. A plus point is that the hotel has access to a clean beach which is not crowded. Staff are friendly and helpful.

Great Ambience / Heated pool !!! / I appreciate the vintage feel and sounproofing details / The ocean view is the best / private beach

However, the food needs a special touch,
upgrade the rest room ventilation,
Add fans into rooms - many are not happy with A/C.
No WiFi ??? We need to work while playing

Oh and if you come here, please go for the Boat sail trip to the deep sea edge and marine park

This is last place you want to be when on holiday. The infrastructures are there that are poorly managed. The place is stuffy and dusty. The place is hardly cleaned. No mosquito net. The safe not working. Breakfast pathetic. Ladies carry your shower caps if you have to be there because you will not be provided with one.

I would rate it 3 stars only for its rather clean beach and quite ambience. So if you are looking for that only its a good option. We went for sunday day out for 1200sh pp with swimming and buffet.
The hotel has just one pool and one changing room which has no water nor a changing room nor a shower. The shower is just outside of the pool so for ladies if you want to bath in the open in public thats the place for u.
The food was just way below average. We were served with indian dishes like aloo bhaigan and peas and potatoes with chapatis. We were 21 people and the food was really less in buffet. The desserts as well were way below expectations. There was icecream written in the mwnu yet there was no icecream served in the buffet. There was only one fruit bowl so it was luck to get into it first. If you were late you would have missed it because there was no second helping.the sauces chatnis or accompaniments were neither there. The menu was also really limited.
To finish i would not recommend this hotel to anyone again.

I had high expectations from the last time I was here two years ago and I was bitterly disappointed. The standards of the rooms are far below average, the waiting staff are so demoralized due to the mismanagement of the entity over the years, the food lacked any spices and was bland, we proffered eating out; you had to wait in line during breakfast as one chef made and served eggs and pancakes, sausages and bacon were limited and served to patrons to manage "wastage". The rooms need URGENT renovation - from the showers, safe, WiFi, fridge, furniture - and support staff, from ICT to kitchen staff (room service) need to meet customer complaints head on instead of circumventing the issues.

Apart from all those shortcomings, the beach and its view are amazing, the staff are pleasant despite the mismanagement, the pool was pleasantly fun and their New Year's fireworks display was amazing. It was also sad to note that their kids corner and menu had been discontinued as this was a serious selling point for people to regularly patronize the resort.

The place needs serious renovations, the food menu needs a total overhaul, the in-house club has great potential but the decor needs a revamp and the DJ sucks, support staff need to be taken to customer training and management urgently need to re-evaluate their strategies. I'll be surprised if this place is open over the 2017 Christmas holidays.
