Nice place and staff very friendly. The views are to die for. The food is excellent. It will be great if they added an electric kettle in the rooms.

Very cosy and homely. The food is fresh and the views are great! The animals also come close to the camp to feed so it's a lovely experience.

This post is long over due and I may have done a disservice to potential guest that stayed elsewhere and missed out on an incredible opportunity! If you are going to Africa and want the experience of a lifetime, stay at Mara West. Andy the owner is an American who has been in Africa for over 30 years and has become family with the local Maasai. The camp is beautiful, positioned overlooking the reserve. With tons of wildlife and built in a non intrusive way, you get to really experience Africa and 5 star accommodations at the same time...a bit of an oxymoron, but you will understand if you go. The chalet we stayed in was unbelievable! The food and service were great! We saw all of the Big Five, the Leopard only briefly...but very cool!!

We visited many other reserves and camps in Amboseli, Arusha, Serengeti, and Angorongoro to name a few. Mara West and the Maasai Mara were by far our favorite!

Had a wonderful time here! The service was excellent and the accommodation and view from the chalet is fantastic. The safari driver really knew the park and grew up local to the area. The chalet is worth the money. Unlike other safari camps I have visited the accommodations are spread out and provide a wonderfully private and exclusive experience. If you have an extra day I highly recommend the community tour. Mara West builds and supports local schools and water projects with Africa Mission Services.

For the budget conscious traveler ask for tent 2 or 3 for a nice mid range option that is still private and a little further away from the lodge. We got the tour these and they are also very nice.

The Mara West was one of the most beautiful places I have ever stayed.
By the time my family and I left we felt like we were friends with all of the staff. The food is divine and the staff is so welcoming.
We stayed in a Chalet and the view of the Masai Mara is incredible!
Also, John was our guide and he was wonderful. Very patient, kind and knowledgeable.
Christine, who was our waitress was also wonderful!
    Such a great experience!!
