Fabulous Safari in Kenya. Plenty of wildlife and green surroundings here, many ferocious beast to watch here. This park covers a huge area of land and is located in the forest land far away from the city limits. visitor's need to hire a vehicle to cover this huge park. Tigers, lions, elephants and even snakes of various kinds & species are found here. The forest escorts provides all the information to the visitors. The restroom is amazing. Night stay inside is not allowed.
I have never submitted a review before on any platform, largely because I am lazy by nature in addition to that it is rather difficult to "wow" me, so here goes :)
I have travelled a lot around the world visiting all continents, experienced different cultures, eaten tons of interesting food and had both good and bad experiences, ranging from fantastic to downright menacing.
The main reason for why our stay at Interprids was probably the best experience I've ever had at a resort/lodge, boils down to two things, the people working there and the location.
Location: driving into Masai Mara from Nairobi you cover a lot of different landscapes through the rift valley. Masai Mara with its vast open landscape dotted with trees here and there makes for an impressive sight not seen elsewhere.
The camp is situated between two rivers meaning right outside the electric fence it is teaming with wildlife. This make game rides much more comfortable since you do not have to drive for a considerable distances in order to catch a glimpse of the big five. We were only 4 tourists in the car in addition to the awesome (and very funny) guide Raphael. Raphael have 17 years of experience, this is important since he can answer any question you might have in addition to the questions you did not think of asking. Brilliant guide.
The staff: what makes for a great stay is the staff. Every single one of the staff at Interprids were genuinely nice people. From Mary ,who organised with Felix the sun downer on very short notice, and Judy explaining the Masai culture (and being a rolemodel for young Masai) to Evans preparing the food at lunch and dinner. There are too many to mention. I don't know how they do it but they deserve massive credit for creating a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere throughout our stay there. It doesn't matter have good the food is or how comfortable the beds are if you don't have excellent people taking care of you. Interprids have exactly that, excellent staff.
Btw, reading reviews beforehand of Interprids, visitors mainly complained about the food. Our only problem with the food was that it wad really good, as a consequence we often ate too much and walked around like landlocked hippo's. Maybe people have higher expectations given the price of the stay, but you are in middle of a nature park 6-8 hours away from Nairobi. Logistics must be a nightmare
What an AMAZING stay at the Mara Intrepids! The service is unbeatable, we felt like royals.
My parents, husband and I stayed at the Mara Intrepids for 4 nights while we were on safari in the Mara. The hotel is beautiful and the rooms are spacious and elegantly done up. Our stewards Ruben and June did a great job doing up the rooms and turning down the linen in the evenings and they even brought hot coffee with the morning wake up call.
The hotel also allows smaller animals like bushbuck and baboons to roam the camp freely. Moreover, we saw elephants, hippo, crocs and a leopard across the river from the campfire that Bahatia made up nightly at the bar. The barman Eric was also very gracious and thus got to know our orders pretty well.
These campfires were made even more amazing in that Chief, the head of the local Masai tribe, was always present and happy to chat with us about Masai customs, history and the animals they have lived alongside in the Mara for centuries. Chief also conducted highly informative nightly talks at the bar on a wide variety of subjects associated with the Mara. While we were there, he covered the Great Migration, the Big Five and Masai customs. We were sorry to miss one of these talks as, our second night in, we opted for the Sundowner package.
As we rolled into the sunset view point at 6.30, we were expecting a couple of drinks and nibbles in a cooler box. When we arrived at the site though, Mary and Jane (customer relations) had created a mini restaurant just for us in the wild, with a full service bar and a live cooking station. It was really a once in a lifetime experience.
Also, since the hotel is full board, we also got to know our wonderful personal waiter, Joseph, and chef Felix really well. They served up fantastic international lunch buffets and nightly set meals. Chef Felix also went above and beyond when my husband passingly asked to try the local cuisine. The next day, he'd whipped us up a batch of a local bean dish to have alongside the buffet.
The last night though, was the most memorable. Joseph had told us to regroup at the bar when we were ready for dinner. He had a suprise dinner for us. As we did, he took us down a path lit with tealights to our own Cabana. He, chef Felix and the staff had arranged for us to have our own personal mix grill barbecue. What a fantastic suprise, it was all really wonderful and it made for a perfect last night in the Mara.
I would strongly recommend Mara Intrepids to anyone looking to have a wonderful holiday, especially if you love chatting and getting to know people. The staff here made our trip unforgettable and, what's more, they've now become our friends.
Intimate tents, loved the Adventures Club, the kids will be kept busy as you enjoy ourselves. Family tents are very spacious
Very disapointed.. this was our 2nd visit and last. Very poor service and attitude of staff especially bar man. Only a few staff members where actually polite and gave excellent service. Morning wake up call was wrong everyday forgot coffee n hot choc.. then told cant have.. at night requested another hot waterbottle for our 3yr old.. was told you have 1. When arrived we had 2 on bed.. all in all very sad 3 star service.. The only thing that made the safari was Mario tours.. best trek ever seeing all the big 5..
Absolutely nice place to be. With high possibility to see the big five.
Very nice place, service and very good food
Beautiful location, excellent and flexible service
A very lovely place to visit and 60 percent chance of seeing a leopard among many other Wild animals
Family friendly tented camp in the heart of the Masai Mara Game Reserve.
Mara Intrepids was included in a safari package of Abercrombie and Kent's. Of the 5 places we stayed over the 2 weeks this was my favorite. The setting is minimal but not without modern comforts. The staff is gracious and accommodating. If you can fly into their airport it's a brief ride to the Camp. The game rides from there were fantastic. Just outside the electric fence are giraffes, zebras, elephants, cheetahs. I took thousands of pictures. If could only go one place for safari I would recommend Mara Intrepids.
A very good place. Real bush experience
Great staff, nice accommodations, three game drives per day (most places offer only two)
We had a phantastic experience with Intrepids. Rubens, our guide was able to show us a lot in 2 days, and Julius our waiter and Stephen our room manager took very good care of us during our stay. I would definitely go there again.
Superb superb superb. These guys offer an awesome service, great stay and accommodation. Food though average gets over shadowed by the service level and one of best places for game drives
Very pretty place!
This is paradise in the jungle. Food is only OK. The chef tires too many cuisines outside of his skill set. Service is phenomenal.
Super camp in the heart of Mars
