Rich in history. Explains much about Luo community and the other tribes in western Kenya. Their lifestyle and culture in early 20th century and at the moment. Good place to visit

A nice place to learn a thing or two about the Luos. Friendly prices. Somehow, I felt like more can be done to showcase the Luo culture and traditions. Big room for improvement!

The entrance costs to the museum are very affordable, especially for local people. It is very good that it is open on all holidays and over the weekend, which makes it ideal for visiting. Some of the artifacts are not labeled so there are missed learning opportunities. In the display about the local area, it would be great to include information about nearby sites. Some of the ceiling boards are falling apart. Water damage may eventually damage some of the exhibits. There is absolutely no use of audio visual technology at the museum. This could be a very powerful and cost effective way to enhance displays. This could easily be paid for by promotion, advertising or support from local and international corporate social responsibility initiatives.

Pretty good, an exhibition on the cultural heritage of the locals, a nice live show of the common fish of the area in the aquarium, several reptiles a la snake part, crocodile pit and a large piece of land they are growing some local flora on. If you ask for Patrick he's a lovely volunteer guide who makes the rounds so much more interesting, just be sure to leave a tip :)

Located in the heart of the city, the museum offers great historical background for Luo community. The museum showcases the lifestyle of the Luo people, culture etc. There's an aquarium showing several species of fish like Nile perch,kamongo, silver fish etc. One can also see crocodiles, live snakes like Cobra, python etc. A traditional Luo homestead gives fascinating insights in the history of Luo. A dance group is always on standby to entertain guests. Some lights in the Museum need to be fixed.

This place is an old time favorite, good for educational tourism for primary and high school students. Not forgetting special groups, you can't afford to be a first time visitor in Kisumu and fail to pass by the museum.
