I stayed at Thompsons Falls Lodge 30 may 2011..its grounds look directly over the falls. The garden are gorgeous - at 7800 feet we have dahlias and hydrangeas alongside hibiscus and other tropical beauties. The lodge is elderly, with character..log fire in every room. I was first there in 1972 and was delighted to see it again.

True, this place has only a good garden. The interia needs a lot of help.

Good location for falls and nearby walks (although no falls view from hotel). Nicely decorated and comfy rooms with mediocre hot showers. The gardens are very nice to sit in and the drinks are reasonably priced. However, it is a bit overpriced and the food is average. The main problem was it was one of the worst nights sleep I've ever had - our room (no 35) was seperated from next door by a pathetic door meaning we had no privacy and could hear every movement of the neighbouring guest, local dogs barking ALL night with windows which kept no sound out and curtains which seemed like they magnified the 6am sunrise! My recommendation: save your cash and stay somewhere in Nyahururu town which is only 10 minutes walk from the falls and go for a drink in the hotel gardens/bar.
