In fact I highly recommend Kenya cheap car hire. Alex is professional along with excellent staffs! The car was perfect for our needs. I recommend anyone to rent from this guy because things are as he says and he returned the deposit.

Car picked up at airport assisted by driver with my name board on arrival spot. Getting car was simple procedure . Car was not new but in good condition, full of petrol tank . I rented rav 4x4 . Only thing driver forgot to tell me about paying airport parking charges, which were 200 ksh so I have to pay in ksh , so have to take information . We family of 4 persons drove to Naivasha-Nakuru - Masai Mara on every bad road but not had a single problem.
Alex and his team is most friendly .
This car website is cheapest.
They collected car from Nairobi city .
Returned full deposit. Only car should be full fuel while handing back.
Overall my experience very good.
1 suggestion- if you are driving in rainy season, then take big ground clearance car.
Overall expense - 80 usd per day rent
And 10 usd Approx per100 km for petrol
Self drive is great experience who are interested.
Hired only guide ( cum driver ) 50 usd per day on game drives.

We visited Kenya in December and had a fantastic time due to Richard who was our driver. He was very friendly, his knowledge in the parks was fantastic and always so cheerful. The vehicle we hired was very comfortable and Richard made sure it was cleaned every day for our trips. If to visit Kenya again, would sure to make use of Kenya Cheap Car Hire.

I have rented Alex car several times, they always exceed my expectations- it's excellent! Alex is quick and reliable with excellent customer service. Once the car couldnt start, I called Alex and he sent his mechanic, who arrived at my location within an hour and fixed the car in less than10mins. Kenya cheap car hire are also very fair and flexible in terms of short notice adjustments or issues.
I would highly reccomend them to everyone all the time!! VERY efficient guys!!

The whole experience was excellent: the car was in good shape (Toyota Rav4), the price was very good compared to other providers, Alex -the manager- was very trustworthy and accepted a booking after just a very brief call with no money advance; the highlight though was our guide Lewis.
So, first of all, he is a very safe driver (he worked in an oil service company that put a lot of emphasis on driver safety, plus he's a certified VIP security driver), and we always felt in good hands. He knows the roads, the shortcuts and was always advising (correctly) on our itinerary so we knew whether we could stick to our plan for the day.
Second, he was a park ranger for 4 years and knew all the animals, sharing very interesting information on wildlife and stories from his time as a ranger. He did a much better job, for example, than our Masai guide in Hell's Gate on identifying and telling us about the fauna seen in the gorges and the park.
Thirdly, he was very knowledgeable about the hotels and saved us quite a bit of money by recommending hotels based on quality, budget, position, morning traffic, etc also after the end of our adventure together.
Lastly, I thought he always went above and beyond to make our trip as carefree as possible, was friendly and accommodating, even skipping lunch to drive us to one more destination on the last day. Had a blast and would wholeheartedly recommend him.

Rented a Rav4 from Alex for 6 weeks and had an excellent experience. I phoned around a few providers before choosing this company, and Alex was able to provide a competitive price and good availability. The drop off / pick up process was very smooth, and Alex was easily contactable and helpful throughout. The car itself was in excellent condition and provided a reliable service throughout the hire period. I would certainly go back to Alex again and highly recommend based on the experience I had.

Disappointing experience for our 10 days renting with a driver / guide

The driving part is good. However the guide is not as experienced as he described. He often underestimates driving time (making trips 2 to 3 hours longer than he promised), and chose roads according to his experience which is sometimes not up to date

What's really bad was that the owner gave misleading information about the Train to Mombasa so that we could continue taking his car service.

For heaven's sake, the driving from Nairobi to Mombasa took 10hours and the road was really bad because of the trucks, traffic etc (Driver told us 6 hours)

As we realized that we were actually "misguided" and wanted to send the car back immediately so that we could save the cost of two days (one way driving = two days cost). The owner just refused to refund us because he did not have any customer in the pipeline.

This is extremely unpleasant because we felt cheated and forced to take the car. It is within customers' right to cancel an unreasonable service. We just could not imagine that he persuaded us to take car to go to Mombasa train or air is really normal way to choose.

So we ended up paying 4 days of the car with using only one day, the driver was "on holiday" for 3 days of doing nothing and still asked for a tips couldn't believe this would happen.

Be careful if you are booking any tour / guide service from this company. Choose others with better experience.

I had spent a great time in Amboseli with this customer friendly company. Whenever I had questions or wishes regarding the pick-up for our two-day trip wth a group of seven people, I could call. In addition, every thing went perfect from being picked up in Nairobi to go to Amboseli for the Sarafari, where we even saw 4 Lions apart from the Elephants, Hyenas etc.! The driver knew all the spots and where to go since he was a very experienced driver. Otherwise, I can only say that it is hard to find trustworthy companies in Nairobi and this is the one, one can trust!

Extremely Satisfied. Rented a Rav4 for 18 Days. The longer you rent the price can adjust. Drove the car to TANZANIA and went to the National Parks. Practically used the car as a camper, It was awesome. Went from Arusha to Tarangire to Ngorongoro crater to Serengeti to Mwanza to Kilimanjaro. It was quite the trip. Self Drive Safari is the way to go. I even got helped out with the border crossing and Insurance of Tanzania. Great company, the gave me back my deposit. This is a company you can trust, and this is coming from americans.

We were extremely pleased with this car hire experience. We booked a 12 day contract using e-mail and Alex was responsive and cordial throughout the process. He met us with the car (Rav 4) at our hotel in Nairobi and we proceeded on the first leg of our safari. When a small engine problem was detected in the first vehicle, Alex and his mechanic met us in route to replace the car with another and we had no problems after that. The service was professional, the cost was reasonable, and we will be hiring our next vehicle from Kenya Cheap Car Hire on our next visit.

I recently rented a Toyota Rav4 to travel from Nairobi to the Coast. On the way down we experienced some problems with the car and Kenya Cheap Car Hire made good on their promise to replace it. After reporting the issue to their staff, they immediately made arrangements for a new car to be brought all the way from Nairobi to my location on the coast, with no hassle or extra cost. The new car was reliable, and rest of our trip was smooth! I would definitely use Kenya Cheap Car Hire again for another excursion in Kenya.
