KAPCHUMBA is translated to mean~ the land of the whites. Two whites lived here at around 1950s. At present Kapchumba is a home of elite runners amongst them are; Peter Some, Jemimah Sumkong, Conseslus Kipruto, Gideon Biwot, Mathew Kisorio.
All of these athletes on many instances visited the land of the white people (Kapchumba)!
Recently Johnson Kosgei a son of Kapchumba married a white lady 'Birgit' from Austria spicing the inherited name Kapchumba!
