At KYMP we focus on the meaning of participation: helping to steer and to form the youth.
KYMP gradually has a programme that focuses first of all on the young people themselves. We ask ourselves which factors can determine whether or not young people could (or could not) be participative in social embedment. Next we recognize that the circumstances of concrete youth participation initiatives are mostly very specific. KYMP looks for the appropriate handles that can help go along with these actual circumstances. KYMP addresses specific discourses and challenges on youth participation and is more specific in the context in which we build inducements for youth participation in activites and the Kailemia Youth Mentoring Programme. Finally, we at KYMP believe that tendencies in the wider social context can influence concrete practices of youth participation hence we create a productive platform for youth in Meru County.
