Kahawa Kulture seems to set a new low threshold for incompetence and indifference. Modeled after western style coffee shops - a wannabe Java House - Kahawa Kulture should be an Oasis in Kisii for those with a discerning taste for coffee or a craving for imported eats like pizza, burgers, milkshakes, or even pasta. Their menu purports to offer all of these. In reality, however, they are nearly always out of several items on the menu. Unfortunately, Kahawa Kulture seems to suffer from an out-of-touch owner and inept management. The staff are poorly trained, lack motivation, or both. It's not uncommon to wait 10+ minutes for service after sitting down at a table, even when the restaurant is empty. This is probably because they're enthralled in a conversation with each other and completely oblivious to you. If there are more than one of you, in all likelihood they will neglect to bring enough menus. If you order a burger, don't forget to check inside for a hidden toothpick poised to send you to the hospital. If you order pizza, tell the chef to cook the pizza for an extra 10 minutes, otherwise it will be served as a gooey mess of dough and tomato sauce. The milkshakes aren't bad, but you'd be hard-pressed to come on a day when they actually have milkshakes, let alone the flavor you want. Somehow it never occurs to anyone at Kahawa Kulture to run across the street to the Nakumatt supermarket when the kitchen runs out of samosas or bananas for the banana milkshakes.

A couple positives:
Their coffee isn't bad.
Their Dawa is better.
The guy at the bar who prepares the shisha is competent, friendly, and attentive.
