It's a nice quiet place. The trees and shrubs give it life.
Problem is, the food sucks. Been here a few times with the same experience.
It's a wonderful place to hang out; alone or with company. At the bar or the garden.

Loved our short stop over for dinner on transit. The ginger black tea with honey was absolutely refreshing.
Stopped again for breakfast with the family and again they did not disappoint. Very delicious pancakes and the sweet ginger tea with honey.
It's great to always stop at Izaak Walton when in 😛Embu.

The hotel has kept a never changing atmosphere I first experienced as a young boy about 40 years ago. The gardens are still as beautiful and relaxing. A real welcome to a tired guest. The rooms are simple and clean. The breakfast never disappoints. I trust and hope that this hotel does not fall to modern day pressure of building large concrete monoliths. Keep your gardens as beautiful as they are for generations to enjoy nature. You may consider introducing exotic birds like a peacock and a peahen

Embu's finest hotel best place for events such as weddings, graduation parties, birthday parties etc. Chilled out hangout joint for family even for the little ones as well. Very clean and tidy compound and rooms i would go back for an out of town weekend even if its by myself.. kudos to the service team as well. 🖒

No intercoms in the rooms, so I had to walk to the reception in case I needed assistance. Laundry services is a mess, takes too long to be done even with the express laundry request. The food is very good and I loved their tea. The gardens and the ambience is awesome. The gym is pathetic. The management needs to seriously invest in the gym.

Overpriced small meals compared to green hills hotel Nyeri or the Thomson falls lodge. Was served water melons for 400 per plate. Fruits should be diverse. Slow WiFi.

I think the best place to stay in Embu. They have cottages. A bit old fashioned. Simple rooms with CTV, bed and the back room opens into a beautiful view of mini forest. They have a restaurant and bar. They are a bit slow so be ready to wait for 20 to 40 min depending on the complexity of your order. But the wait it worth it. I ask then to make an Indian chicken curry and it was good that to at 11.30 pm in the night. So overall experience was good.

The cottages are cool and old school. The well maintained gardens are a good place to relax in the evening while gazing at the stars. You can dine at the hotel or take grill at the restaurant by the highway while enjoying music.
