The room is just as in the photos. Shower was too cold for my liking. Bed was Squeaking in the first room we were given and had to change rooms. There was a very nice receptionist called Janet who despite it being her first day at the job with little training from the management, managed to make us feel at home. We expected more from a University hotel. I would recommend it however for backpackers on budget as it's very affordable clean with breakfast.

I love the place. I've been there 7+ times and I still haven't had enough of it. The food is great and I highly recommend you try out their steak.

With each visit I enjoy something new and fresh. From the bottom of my heart, I can say that their food is the best I've had when compared to other restaurants I've been to.

Abit slow service.
Recently just banned drinks.
Seemingly more like a restaurant and motel now.
Ample parking, secure.
For a good evening rest from a long journey its quite condusive though it has some room for improvement

Good location off highway in an upmarket suburb (university). Clean and tasteful rooms, all facilities fully functional.
Very friendly staff. Secured carpark, also useful for motorcycle and bicycle.
Moderate room rate.
Beautiful patio restaurant with excellent performance, which fully compensates the location out of city center.
Ideal stop between Meru and Embu.

Hillside Grand Hotel. A spectacular hospitality landmark in Ndagani area, Chuka Igambang'ombe Constituency, Tharaka Nithi County. Located 2.5 Km from Chuka Town and a stone throw from Chuka University along the busy Meru-Nairobi Highway, the hotel boasts its reputable standards in the entire county. I attended a conference in the hotel once and spent a night in their classy clean set rooms and one word only can summarize my experience - awesome. The food is fantastic and service is world class. In the evening the bar lounge located outside the main restaurant is usually open for you who needs whisky or a beer to complete the night. Another awesome place in Tharaka Nithi worth visiting.
