Though the town is small and less developed, its environment is what kindles a sparkle. Situated at the edge of Mount Kenya Forest (Mt. Kenya is the highest mountain in Kenya, 2nd in Africa), the towns serene setting renders it a stunning locality. Accessing the beautiful natural forest and initiating a mountain climbing adventure is not a dream, its more than a reality. At times, the elephants pass near the town as they transverse the Mt.kenya wilderness; really a beautiful scene! With its close proximity to Karatina University(main Campus and Itiati Campus), Karatina Town and Karatina Open Air Market (the largest open air market in East Africa), the town is one of its kind.
