DEVELOPING FRENCH CULTURE &LANGUAGE IS JUST PROPAGANDA, OR IT WAS PUT IN A WRONG HAND?

I need to share my case and what I feel, after being treated so bad from the Director of the French School in Nairobi today (Lycée Denis Diderot).
I am not a French speaker, but always admire French culture and literature. After talking and sharing experiences with some friends who have their kids studying in French school, I also wanted to enroll my 2 children (5 year and 3 year old) there from this September 2015 when my daughter (5 year old now) will start her 1 year of primary.

In fact, I have already put her in the French course in her kindergarten (she is in English Montessori now) to get use to this language and see she enjoys a lot. We are also organizing a 2 month holidays in a French island to learn French this May and June for all of us (me – my husband and the 2 kids) with the idea to give them some basic knowledge of French before starting the school.
I called the school to have an appointment and it was failed the 1st time as I came and the person whom I need to see was not there and nobody wanted to explain me how to do to enroll my kids, they didn’t even let me to come in to the office to pick the registration forms. I wrote an email and sent to both secretary office and director, without receiving any feedback.

Last, a friend who has 2 children study in the school took me there and asked the reception (of course in French). Finally they let me in to talk to somebody.
The secretary took me to the director after explaining him about my case, and this gentleman knocked me down by his unprofessional and unpleasant attitude.

1) Without a welcome smile, he told me there is very little chance for my 5 year old daughter to be accepted in this school: “As this is French school, she has to have a basic knowledge of 6000 words. And she will to pass a French test” – he said. I tried to tell him that she has started to learn some French now and we are going to learn French intensively for 2 month in a French territory. But he kept his negative opinion and told me the chance is very small. Finally I asked him: “So, you are telling me that her opportunity is very little?”- he said: “Yes” – while continuing to work with his computer without looking into my face when responding me.
2) I explained him that I will try anyway to apply my kids to his school. He said I can try after my French studying holiday, and kept saying the chance is limited. During our conversation, he showed very clearly his uninterested and acted as I am wasting his time by trying to send me away as fast as he could.
I am wondering:
- Is the strategy of developing French language and culture just a predication, or an advertisement? Or just because I met a wrong person who is not interested at all to spread his beautiful language and culture to the world, while he has to be? If not, why he is there?
- Is it possible that a director of an international school could behave this way to a client who is willing to send her children to his school because she admires his culture?
- Is it possible that a director of a French school could be this unprofessional?
- Is it right that a 5 year old child could not pick up any possibility to come studying in the French school even if his/her parents are trying their best to improve his/her knowledge of the language before starting the school?

I am totally upset and disappointed. I have never (ever) been treated this way from a (un)professional person – who is director of a school which educates children.
I will still give the chance to my kids to learn French language anyway, but not to step back in this school. At least, the French school in Nairobi.

I loved it, great school, I met my friend kevin there. The teachers are great , very helpful . It was a great experience overall. . . I ll go back there to visit one day .
