If you are a stranger. You'll have a friend in the many strangers who walk through this place. With an eco love going strong and a stall to the beach. The rates are lower than what you'd ever expect.

This is the best place my partner and I have stayed in our four months travelling East Africa.

We booked initially to stay for three nights and ended up staying 15 and even went back on our way back down the coast. It felt like coming home!

It was so good, in fact, that we pushed our friends to abandon their travel plans to visit the Kenyan coast instead - they ended up staying for a week at Distant Relatives and loved it.

The staff are excellent - Stephen, Thomas, the management, the chefs, the housekeepers and the security are friendly, welcoming, funny and helpful.

The accommodation is just lovely - we stayed in three of the double rooms and one of the bandas. If you can afford the bandas, get one because the experience is so special. The double rooms are excellent if you're on a budget though. Discounts are available for longer stays which was great for us!

The pool areas is great and can be whatever you make it. If you want to chill, go for it. If you want to be sociable, you will find plenty of like-minded people.

The facilities are clean and well maintained. The shared kitchen is huge and well equipped. It's a good social spot too. The toilet facilities are eco friendly and clean. The bamboo forest showers are excellent!

Honestly can't rate this place highly enough - but would love to take the opportunity to thank everyone at Distant Relatives for making our time in Kilifi so memorable. :)

I did visit distant travellers on the 14/10/2017 and had the worst experience i ever had in a hotel all over the world.i met the bar man by the name STEVE who has all vices a normal human being would have.He is arrogant,not helpful,a racist,a snob and above all he doesnt care about anyone.distant travellers is a very nice place which can turn moments to memories but with people like steve who lack etiquette and customer service is one of the worst places.All wasnt very bad because at the end i met one Tom who apologized and explained to two managers who also apologized on behalf of the premises.

Amazing vibes in this place. Affordable and it has everything you could ever want in a backpackers. Pool. Bar. Great chilling areas. Volleyball court. Beach with bioluminescent plankton at night. You should come here if you can

We heard so many good things about this hostel, it is why we came to Kilifi. It didn't disapoint. Really good vibe, communal kitchen or good restaurant if you don't want to cook. Close to the river beach but need a boda boda to get to the open ocean beach. Love the eco toilets and focus on sustainability

The lodge is environment friendly and embraces the use of eco friendly solutions for everything including the bathroom and shower facilities. We intended to get away from the city for a while and got this at the eco lodge. It is very nice and relaxing, all backpackers are very friendly and courteous.

A good getaway for when you need to relax and enjoy the Kenyan Coast. About 1hr 30mins drive from Mombasa. Lovely food at a relatively cheaper price. You can get to swim in the ocean from here too.

A beautiful place for eco-conscious travellers to converge! Great atmosphere, great staff. For three nights in a row I went down to the creek with a bunch of guests and volunteers to swim with the luminescent plankton under the big bright stars - truly stunning. I can't wait to come here again soon :-)
