A place to be
Although the pictures are flattering and the description says "luxurious" this facility can hardly be considered that. I traveled with a group of 11 people to visit Nairobi and booked the Daisy House. Two of our group members arrived a day early and we organized transportation with the host Noni. After two hours of waiting at the airport, no one ever came. Someone overheard them mention the Daisy House and offered to take them there.
Also, this is one of the first Bed and Breakfast facilities I've been to where breakfast wasn't included. Noni charged $100 for dinner upon our arrival and breakfast. When we got there, dinner was NOT ready and it took her staff nearly 2 hours to prepare a small bowl of rice, and some stewed veggies--hardly enough for 12 people. To try and make up for not having enough food, the host brought some cold chicken strips and a few slices of pizza from Dominos Pizza. What American tourist wants American food, while visiting another country?!? She guaranteed authentic Kenyan food and did not deliver.
Noni offered a special rate, but would not accept payment online. She would only accept cash up front.
Breakfast was mediocre and certainly not worth the extra money.
There are telephones in every room, none of them work.
WIFI did not work the entire time we were there.
The showers were ice cold.
And the toilets did not flush properly, to the point where poop was coming back up through the pipes.
Some of our group members left food in the refrigerator--it magically disappeared.
Her staff was friendly, but they were hardly prepared to accommodate us and they were dishonest. I asked for breakfast on our last morning, called to confirm with Noni and two hours later, no breakfast. Moments before we had a scheduled tour pick up, I confronted her staff and they admitted they had no food. Noni ignored my phone calls and then told us to go have breakfast elsewhere.
I constantly brought all of these issues to Noni's attention and she had nothing but excuses. When I let her know I intended to share the uncomfortable experience, she said she didn't care and that "my threats" meant nothing to her. She proceeded to have a text war with me about why my group and I should just "get over it."
This was the worst Air BNB experience I have ever had. And to make it worse, once you factor in Nairobi traffic, its really not that convenient to get back and forth to the city (almost a $25 ride one way).
Noni was kind until she got our money, and then she disappeared and provided horrible, neglectful service. I WOULDN'T RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE.
