If you are in.Nairobi CBD and want to eat some meat for lunch this the place. It has fish,pork, goat, mutton and beef at a very fair price actually pocket friendly considering it's meat. You may also buy fresh meat to go cook at home and enjoy with your family. It's easily accessible.

It's a good place to buy pork for anyone who likes cooking pork at home. It used to be a great place to buy fish as well even for resale but the rates are not as favorable anymore. The meat products sold here move fast though so you will definitely get fresh stuff but prices may not be worth the trip to the CBD as used to be the case a couple of years back.

One can be sure to find fresh meat cuts from this market, which supplies most of Nairobi environs. It's however advisable to go early especially if interested in sea food and fresh water fish. Also, it's best to try your luck at bargaining for the best price possible.
One can also find curio shops and flower vendors within the same market.
The architecture of the building is also quite retro and attractive reflecting it's colonial heritage.

Architecturally I love the space. It's not where I would shop for local curios as their target market is tourists and never truly picked my interest. I definitely go for fresh fruits , flowers and meat products. I also found a gift shop that I see myself very soon. There is an artist doing amazing paintings and his so calm. You cannot miss him with his long dreadlocks.

Good variety of curio shops in one place. But be prepared to bargain hard to get tour goodies for a fair price. Some of the shops have nice quality items and there is obviously enough of the mass produced give-aways available.

This is a beautiful economy class place to take meals and especially meat (mostly fish). Incase you're in Nairobi and you realize you have overspent and you're very hungry, visit the city market for very affordable meals. You can also buy flowers 💐 from here as they are available and at cheap prices. In short, City Market is a wonderful place to visit.

Meat market. Plenty of it. Beef, mutton, chicken, fish. One of the few places in Nairobi where you can find fresh quality poultry and fish fillet. But beware of overstayed meat. Generally affordable prices: cheaper than the butcheries within town or the estates.

Great place to buy fresh meat from pork to fish to beef. The prices are relatively cheap and wholesale is accepted. Has a very safe and casual currency exchange service. African Art is in plenty and also African wear and garments. might get a little bit crowded but its worth the visit.

City Market is a hub of activity. There is so much to see and buy here, from flowers to paintings and sculpturesbut City Market is known for one thing Meat.

It's the place to buy meat to go, at a bargain. Yes, you can bargain. There is fish, chicken, beef, mutton and pork. You can eat in (though the cafés look dirty and aren't an ideal place to eat unless you're looking for adventure) Or mostly carry uncooked meat.

If you need flowers for any occasion, City Market has the widest, affordable selection

The City Market is in within the Central Business District (CBD) in Nairobi. The market is house in an old building build built in a pre colonial style. In within the market there are Curio Shops selling African Carving,Sculptures and other art forms hence any day you won't lack tourist looking for souvenirs and African art pieces in within the market. Also the market house a number of local hotels and quite a good number of butcheries which are major and sell cattle meat and fish meat. On the other side of the market there are flower traders who sell all sort of live flowers ranging from roses for a loved one to flowers and ornaments used in a burial service. The markets has around five entrance but while using the entrance that lead to the butchery be sure to get the awful stench of a fish market.

The place is great to buy souvenirs for friends and loved ones but I have a problem with the smell from the Butchery area. I love fresh fish from this market.
There are food bandas here and I love yard 7. I get fruits pudding here. Very fulfilling.

Centrally located in the middle of town.

Supplies the city with fresh flowers; all kinds of meat including chicken, and fish.

There are several curio stalls inside selling beautiful art, amazing sculptures, lovely African outfits, shoes, and jewellery. You need to know how to haggle, oftentimes tourists are charged a lot more. But if you feel generous, then by all means do support our local artists.

There are people who offer to sell or buy US dollars, do so at your own risk. Actually, don't do it at all unless you're an expert at spotting fake bills.

Lastly, there are eateries serving all kinds of African dishes, and open air stalls that make you a dope fruit salad!

Visited City Market during Mother's Day to buy some flowers for my mum, great place for African souvenirs too! But beware of over priced items, hence take your time to walk around and bargain!
For those looking for fresh flowers, this is a good place and very convenient being in the CBD. Enjoy!

This is a typical market at the heart of Kenya's Capital center that is where you can probably get almost everything from the country especially regarding with agricultural produce.More to that there are great curio shops inside the market place.No wonder the name CITY MARKET

One of the busiest markets within the City. If you are looking for fresh cuts (meat, chicken) then this is the place to be. Parking may be a challenge. The place is always crowded and you have to be very careful with your belongings. It sometimes have stench.
