This is arguably the best book store in the world. Chan the owner always takes time to give curated recommendations and they have an amazing selecting of books on African history and politics, among others. Would highly recommend visiting this iconic shop if you’re in Nairobi 😊

I've been going to Bookstop for 20 years! Quite simply the best bookshop in all of Nairobi (possibly Kenya). Twenty years ago when my wallet was a lot lighter I used to go here to buy second-hand books.

Their selection of African literature is unsurpassed. And the staff is very knowledgeable. I have spoken to the owner many times and he's a big reader as well.

I've been an avid customer of this store for years and years and never once have they failed me in with their broad selection of books. The ambience Is simply divine. The highlight if my week is normally going to this store just to window shop even if i have no intention of buying a book on that particular day. 10/10 would recommend.

Has not been living up to it’s standards lately. Can’t find books you ask/ are looking for and they don’t even help in finding them.
    Disappointing honestly.

THIS is the one! Great selection of books, especially in the fields of politics and society. I was not looking for fiction during my stays there, so I cannot comment on that.

Absolutely helpful and knowledgeable staff. They know their business well and have humor, too

Whenever I might be lucky enough to be in Nairobi again, I will be there on day 2 :-)

A great bookstore this is. It is a favourite for me. Most of my best collections are from here.

The store is spacious enough, and the books are well arranged. It is pretty easy for you to look for a book you want. Also, their staff is very friendly so you can always ask for their assistance. Also, they know these books well. Ken Mwangi has been of great assistance over the years. Also, the owner, Chan, is very friendly. He has great insights on books in case you need a “small” review of the book you want.

They have books on many genres. It is hard to walk in here and get out without a book. I am not sure if they still have the “Used Books Section” but when they had just started, I got some priceless books here- like Oscar Wilde’s Collection.

I just wish they were close to the CBD.

If you want a place where they appreciate you as a customer, don't go here. I got there at 10.30 because he told me he would be there at 10.30. When I called him, he said "I said after 10.30". If a place doesn't respect my time, I would never give it to them.

This is by far the best bookstore I've come across in Nairobi, and I've checked around. Not only are there new books, but a decent selection of used as well.

A very friendly and helpful staff. Not to mention they are always playing jazz, great atmosphere!

Has a very big selection of books but the price will always be KSH 150 - 400 more than other bookstores like TextBook Centre

Great bookstore, it's a little pricy but it's worth it as many books here can't be found elsewhere in nairobi.

This is a fantastic independent bookstore. The selection is intelligent and diverse. I don't know what I expected when I walked in, but when I got a shelf I loved, I almost bought every book on it. The prices were very fair, the service was good, and I will go back again. It is a little unusual that the shelves aren't apparently labeled, so it was a little like a maze of books. However, I wasn't in a hurry, so it was okay.
