早朝の神社の静寂、夜の夜神楽（観光神楽）、とてもよかった。
社務所（本殿前）は7時ぐらいから人が居るのでお札やお守りは入手できるが、朱印に関しては自分の朱印帳に書いてほしければ午前8時以降

パワースポットと簡単な言葉で言い表すのは申し訳ないほど。
イワレヒコ様までのルーツがここには詰まっている。
天孫降臨の地として名高い土地。
まさに都会の喧騒からは切り離されており、正直ある意味今の日本ではないような場所でした。時間もゆっくり過ぎていきとても穏やかな気持にさせてくれる場所です。
ここの御朱印帳も神社の特徴が出ていて、好きな人は好きですね。response / report this review -

We visited Takachiho and its shrine in the early 1990s. It was one of the most memorable experiences of my life. The shrine is the unofficial shrine to Amaterasu, the sky goddess, as opposed to the official and huge shrine complex at Ise. The shrine priests provided a dance to celebrate Ameterasu's emerging from a cave and the return of the sun; her going to a cave and closing herself away was due to her brother, Susanoo's insults to her. Anyway the dance and shrine are great fun and amazing look into the culture and ancient religion of Japan. The town and surrounding mountains are lovely and fun to explore. At that time there was an American who was paid by the Japanese government to greet non-Japanese visitors, probably to help to ensure our proper manners. No one else spoke English, but holding up sentences in a Japanese language guide seemed to work fine. The residents were most helpful, including showing us the way to a local laundromat. Nearby Mt Aso is one of the world's largest volcanoes, about 20 kilometers across, and there are some gorgeous geological formations and streams associated with the volcano. We missed looking into a major and live lava crater, which would be great to see and is apparently easy to access.

Nothing especially special. I didn't find the yokagura anything particularly fascinating. But then again such things do not move me. The shrine itself is pretty and was great fun. Had the largest piece of corn on New Year's Eve!
