The distillery tour is great; the tasting afterwards is just as nice. Make sure to book way in advance and confirm the day before via website. There's a small museum, shop, & bar for more tastings.

If bookings for the tour and tasting are full, you can also check closer to your preferred date as people might cancel. ¥1000 per person, cash only. Eat something beforehand.

a good peek into BOH practices. museum and factory area is well kept for the purposes of the tour. should aim to get the tasting tour, includes a 20-30min sit down session of whisky tasting and class

Even if you don’t drink whiskey at all, a visit to the famous Suntory Yamazaki Distillery is a must see. Book weeks in advance for the tour though cos it gets full extremely fast.

If you are in Osaka or Kyoto it is well worth a visit. On the tasting room most whisky brands sell for a meager ¥100 so you might get drunk

if you are using the English audio guide, start listening to it right away while waiting for the tour to start. there won't be enough time for you to do so in the tour, especially if you take photos.

新しい蒸溜釜が出来ました。100周年のころにはこれで作ったものがやっと酒になります。新しいうちは銅特有の赤みがかかっていますよ。

If you're thinking of getting the Hibiki 21 here, don't. You can get it much cheaper at duty free. 750ml; here = 21,000Y. duty-free = 15,000Y. whisky. Hibiki 30: 5/5. Yamazaki 25: 4.5/5

響 30年は 年間数千本しか作れない、貴重で稀少な限定品です。一本700ml 10万円と非常に高額ですが、有料試飲コーナーでハーフショット15ml 2300円で楽しめます。滑らかな口当たり、重厚なコク、華やかな香りはどれをとっても他の追随を許しません。
