Great place to stay. Nice rooms, the shower is rudimentary the least though. Dinner is @ 19:30 for 350¥. Breakfast is toast and is free.

It's a bad idea if you want to travel by public transport anywhere though. There is a bus stop nearby which has 3 busses a day going to a hotel where you can switch to a bus to Aso if you want to go up the volcano.
Bear in mind the last bus from the hotel leaves at 17:00 so 15:40 is the time you need to be at Aso station - Bus from Aso arrives at 15:50 so you either hike down, hitchhike or take the earlier bus somewhen around noon I think it was.

The guesthouse owner is going to help you with the schedules if you need to.

Little Asia is lovely place to staying in Aso area. Lady staff is so friendly&speak English.Seems to countryside area. I dont know how to access to here because I drove till here. Great dinner for 350yen. Reasonable price, Dorm rooms are really small and has only 1 shower room.

Extremly quiet area, and a nice house. Very family-like feeling. Prices are good. I feel we were a bit packed in the room, and there is a quite stric curfew after which no more light or cooking or showering, and you can't even talk with someone on teh backside barbecue oriented terrace. Maybe more a place for families than backpackers, or good if you really are there just for sleeping and spend all day hiking. Staff is nice and can take you there and put you back to the bus stop by car. DOn't expect any shop or any kind of city life accessible from there. You should know very precisely what you are here for before coming.

This is a cheap hostel. Do not expect 5-star-service. Dinner they offered (around 300 yen something) was really great.
