  江戸時代以来の日本の海軍史を概観する博物館．佐世保に限らず国全体での動向を網羅的に取り上げているところがよいです．展示では大量の模型が目を引きます．最近では退役した護衛艦「くらま」の艦橋を再現した展示が新設されました．館内の売店にあるグッズも豊富で，これだけの内容を入場無料で楽しめるのは素晴らしいです．惜しまれる点としては，館内が撮影禁止であることでしょうか．

  日本海軍の遺産を継承を目的に水交社跡地に建設。正面玄関あたりは水交社の旧施設をそのまま利用した７階建ての建物。開館時間は9時30分～17時まで、入館料は無料。佐世保鎮守府時代から太平洋戦争、敗戦後の自衛隊設立まで詳しく展示しています。お土産も色々ありかなり満足します。

  駐車場に停めて敷地外に出ることはできません！(すぐそばに佐世保バーガーの店が2軒ありますが・・・)

  二階に操船シミュレーターがある。入港と出港の操作ができる。
