  Good area with good facilities. Recommend the half day hike (2-3hrs) from hoshhimon oji to kumano hongu taisha. Can park the car in kumano hongo taisha and take the bus (15min) to hoshhimon oji. Check bus times as busses are not very frequent

  Beautiful shrine! Steps going up will be a bit of a struggle haha. Watch out for the 3 legged crow

  One of the three grand shines that are part of the pilgrimage route of Kumano Kodo. The other two are in Shingu town and by Natchi falls, one day trail walk to each.

  I visited here in winter. There were not much people. It was so quiet and calm. There are a lot of history here. I'm very impressed.
