You come here for the view of the Kamogawa. The place is quaint and very charming. We arrived and there was one waiting staff who greeted us, seated is (fronting the river), took our orders, served our food and took our payment. We wanted to just get drinks but decided to have a margerita pizza to got with some white wine. The pizza was forgettable but this is a nice place to just kill time and stare blankly into the river.

このお店は行かないほうがいいです。The owner isn't the type of person you want to deal with. I wasn't going to write a review based on what I experienced because this might have been my mistake. However after what I've read other person's review and the owner's unnecessarily aggressive response, I'm sure that this isn't a good place. I thought I'd write it too so that other travelers don't have to feel disappointed. We have been traveling for a few weeks and this owner was the first one that was rude to me.

Very unfriendly. I asked at 5.30pm to book for the terrace and was told it was not necessary, as they were having reservations for 6pm only.
I went back at 8pm and all the tables in the terrace were full. I said there was "no problem, we could wait and have a drink while the people in the tables were finishing" - I was told that it was all booked afterwards (the french guy was a different person from the one I met earlier). They also suggested another place where to go. I did not take the suggestions, but I went to another place.
I have been eating in Japan for 2 weeks (Osaka, Nara, Kobe, Tokyo, Hakone, Kyoto) and this is the first place were the waiters were not nice to me. Very disappointing, but luckily Kyoto is full of nice places.response / report this review -

Way overpriced and quite a disappointment, to be honest. No atmosphere, the service was nothing more than okay and the same goes for the dessert. The coffee was quite nice. I went in to spend an hour reading with my coffee but I got the feeling that they prefer not to have people lingering more than while their meal last. The location on the canal side is very nice, but still I wouldn't come back to this place.
