A little out of the way but nice clean rooms with very very helpful front desk staff who have been working here for years.

Awesome place! Rooms were nice and tidy (though a bit small but maybe it's because I'm 1.9m long) with all the extras you could possibly need (like toothbrushes or hair combs) The staff was really nice and breakfast was amazingly good. Location was also a 10 min walk from Ueno station with a street that was never boring. Perfect!

My first time in Japan and I am glad I stayed here. The staff are impeccable, their attentiveness is brilliant and they did loads to help out, including posting my pocket WiFi unit back and writing "shojin ryon" in Japanese out for me (it means temple food, or diet, very helpful if you are vegan).
They also have a card with the address and a small map on it so if you get a cab you can just show the driver that.

The hotel itself is very nice, super clean and just 8 minutes walk from the yamemote (jr) line (this is the line that if you are visiting sights will be your beat friend) the hotel has Wi-Fi and both the standard 2 pin and 3 pin japan/usa plugs. Our room had a nice view and telly, phone, desk, safe, mini fridge, bath/shower and ethernet socket.
The complimentary breakfast was an unusual thing, as well as the European style pastries and cereal there was salad, soups and rice curry on offer. These are things I as a westerner didn't think of as a breakfast thing but they seemed very popular. The breakfast is a buffet affair and it gives you a chance to meet some of the other guests.
There are also vending machines just beside the main lobby area.

The things that stand out as the most memorable are the staff and their helpfulness, the blade runner esq roof (it has more than a passing nod at J F Sebastian's place) and the incredibly high professional standards they deliver.
I want to go back to Tokyo as soon as possible, and I'd stay at the Villa Fontaine Ueno without any hesitation.

The rooms are clean and well-apportioned, but typically small as most Japanese rooms are. The neighborhood is very quiet after 8pm, so do plan to take a train if you want to be out late.

Great hotel, clean rooms, friendly staff, free breakfast and a short walk to a lot of good locations like Ueno park, akihabara, ameyoko market, sensoji, etc.

Breakfast procedure is a bit odd, and there's no restaurant, but the rooms are lovely, clean, and the service and feel is excellent. Good location too, very close subway, and a cool market area over the road. Service so far has been diligent and excellent.

The location is great. The room is smaller but that might just be how Japanese rooms are. The bed and pillows are really firm. They have free breakfast in the morning which is pretty good and free WiFi.

The rooms are well maintained but a little on the smallish side. Staff was friendly and professional. I would definitely recommend it to those not wanting to break the bank.

The walls in room are a bit dirty and the breakfast doesn't have many options. It's about a 10 min. walk from a train station, although there might be a closer one. The staff is very friendly though.

    Really liked staying here.

Very convenient location -close to at least two subway lines and Ueno train station. With easy access to Narita airport and Shinjuku, Shibuya. Lots of restaurants, and Ueno park within 10-15 min walk.

Rooms were Japanese-size, but adequate and larger than some other hotels in the price range. Very clean. Staff were courteous and spoke English. Also enjoyed the nice hot free breakfast.

I'll likely be staying here again if visiting in the near future.
