Our Story (Hokuei "Conan Town" in Tottori Prefecture, Japan) (北栄町 鳥取県)北栄町は、平成17年10月1日に旧北条町と旧大栄町が合併して誕生。北は日本海に面し白砂青松の景色が広がる砂丘地帯があり、南には黒ぼく畑の丘陵地帯が広がる地形を持ち、合併後の面積は57.15平方km、東西約12.5km、南北約9.5km、人口は16,875人（平成17年10月1日）となりました。旧北条町は町の約4割をブドウ、葉タバコなどが栽培される砂丘地が占め、約3割を水田地帯が占める平坦な土地。海岸沿いには平成17年12月に竣工した9基の風車が立ち並び、循環型社会のシンボルとなっています。一方、旧大栄町は砂丘地帯に特産長いも、ラッキョウ、南の丘陵地帯では全国ブランドの大栄西瓜などが生産されるなど、県内でも有数の農業の町。また、「名探偵コナン」の原作者、青山剛昌氏が由良宿出身であり、この全国ブランドを生かした「コナンの里」作りを展開。JR由良駅から道の駅大栄まで、コナン君のブロンズ像 やレリーフなどを設置、青山剛昌ふるさと館にも、全国からコナンファンが訪れています。北栄町ではこれらの豊富な資源と、全国的に知名度の高い「名探偵コナン」、風車をシンボルとした環境にやさしい町など、魅力を融合し熟成させた町づくりが期待されています。Hokuei was born on October 1, 2005, when the former Hojo and former Daiei towns merged to form Hokuei (北栄町).
