The hour spent at Owl Family Osaka was one of our fondest memories of the city, and we were all grateful to have the photos to relive it for ourselves and for our friends.

The staff was patient, informative and FUNNY. One of the two hosts spoke perfect english and there was no hassle managing the logistics.

The owls themselves are adorable and docile, and perched on hands/shoulders/heads for photos and petting without a problem. I wouldn't necessarily recommend the experience for younger children, but for adults it was about as cute an experience as you can get, and definitely time better spent than at a cat cafe.

Probably common knowledge to any traveler of Japan, but as typical of most 'cafe' experiences in Japan, the drinks and such are basically just the cover charge to get in. The drinks were cute, but your drink cost goes into the facilities rather than the actual beverage.

I recommend scheduling a day when you can pay a small premium to feed them, as it'll likely be in the evening with a smaller crowd. Go to the area about 90 minutes ahead of time and relax with a cup of coffee at the nearby Moto Coffee, on a patio overlooking Osaka's river, then take a ten minute stroll through the riverside Nakanoshima Park on the way to the cafe. It'll be one of the most perfect evenings of your trip.

Absolutely disgusting! They buy owl eggs abroad from poachers (according to the idiots that work there) and the owls are never allowed outside and never will be. These should be illegal and I'm surprised they're not. I felt sick. My only regret is that I didnt puke all over the ignorant guy who works there. "They would die outside" get a clue bud

Lovely cafe for us to get close to the owls! The owls were gentle and had really smooth feathers when we touch them! A variety of different breeds can be seen.

By the hour, the cafe admits patrons into the cafe. So remember to make a reservation! If you're walking in, you'll have to wait for the staff to let you know if they still have capacity to hold you for the hour.

Wonderful place to meet owls and learn of them. Although they advertise themselves as a cafe, it's mostly about the owls and there's no time to actually sit back with your drinks. If it's the owls you want to meet, this place is highly recommended!

Incredibly fun cafe where you sign up for 1 hour time slots to play with owls. In reality you only get about 40 minutes but still plenty of time to play with each owl and take pictures. 1500yen (it was 1000yen 1.5 years ago) for most drinks which gives you access to the owls. Drinks are mediocre so don't expect anything from that and isn't the point of this place anyways. Only point of concern is that we're playing with nocturnal animals in the daytime and some owls seem on edge. Be aware you may be pooped on.

I'm not usually into petting zoos but this was brilliant. The staff is great, the owls adorable and being able to study them so up close touch them, hold them is well worth the money.

I've always seen owls in zoos or on the TV, but never have I been able to see owls up close and personal, let alone pet them and have them ride on my arm!

This little cafe provides an amazing opportunity for visitors to interact with many of their owls; they have little baby owls to fully grown adult owls, all either acquired externally or raised by the cafe owners. You are required to order a drink here, since the fee includes owl interaction and photography, but the fee is reasonable for this once in a lifetime experience.

You are limited to a one hour time slot to play with their owls, so don't expect to be sitting at the table sipping on the drinks you ordered. Before you are allowed to see the owls, the staff will present an introductory session on handling the owls. All the staff members are extremely friendly and helpful. Even though their English is poor, they do their very best to try to understand what you're trying to do, whether it's taking photos or handling the owls.

The drinks are very standard, there's not much you can expect. As I mentioned, you will most likely spend the entirety of the hour playing with the owls then going back to your table to finish the drink at the end when the time is up. Overall, the price is well worth the experience to play and take photos with the owls.
