مسجد اثري فيه اقدم المآذن
Just north of the Umayyad palace of al-Qastal lies a rectangular mosque. Much of it was rebuilt during the second half of the 20th century. However, the remains of the circular minaret with its steps are perhaps the first known to date purpose-built Umayyad minaret going back to the early 8th century AD.
The place is undeveloped for tourism. As such there are no facilities of any kind on site. One should be mindful not to disturb anything, to keep out of the excavated areas and not to litter the place. Therefore, one's garbage should be collected and brought home.
