So the result is advanced civilization, they made the best trolleys paved roads in history with great columns both sided tracks, they have their unique architecture and it's almost maintained in Jerash, also you'll see a mosaic carpet adorns the ground of the temple, finally don't miss the magnificence of spending some time sitting in the theatres unleashing your imagination

Let's start with the disappointing, for how popular this site is it would be nice to money put into keeping it clean and taking care of it.

Once the tour buses get there it can get crowded (not Western Europe crowded, but still) I would recommend getting there when they open if possible, or staying until they close.

The complex is huge. Lots of walking. Some really impressive ruins here - it's billed as the best Roman ruins outside Italy, a sentiment I would echo. In fact, if it was better taken care of, it would rival even the best Italy has to offer. Lots of excavation still to be done.

Amassing experience just like living in the heart of ancient history, read about it before you go so you are familiar with what this great place has to offer, get couple of cold drinking water bottles on you, proper sun protection; hat and glasses, comfortable pair of sport shoes, and yah comfy clothes too.

The place is beautiful and enchanting, extremely rich in heritage and culture. Do hire a guide to make the place come alive, and learn something new. Lot to cover and so much information, one needs at least 3 to 4 hours to explore the place properly, with a lot of walking. It is a hub for school excursions and so usually crowded and noisy. But you will always find a quiet spot to drink in the vibe and the energy.

Jerash, located 48 kilometers north of Amman is considered one of the largest and most well-preserved sites of Roman architecture in the world outside Italy. To this day, its colonnaded streets, baths, theaters, plazas and arches remain in exceptional condition. Within the remaining city walls, archaeologists have found the ruins of settlements dating back to the Neolithic Age, indicating human occupation at this location for more than 6500 years. This is not surprising, as the area is ideally suited for human habitation.

The historic site of Jerash is just 40 minutes north of Amman and will consume at least 3 hours of your time. It is said to be one of the best preserved Roman cities outside of Rome itself!

The sites were spectacular, just make sure that you have a guide so that you can clearly understand all of the history

This is a large Roman archeological site and one of the best preserved outside of Rome. It will take a few hours to walk the entire site and some of the terrain is difficult but walkable for the most part. This was part of my tour package of Jordan and a nice way to see some the country as you drive up from Amman.

A close second to Petra on the list of favourite destinations in Jordan is the ancient city of Jerash, which boasts an unbroken chain of human occupation dating back more than 6,500 years.

Jerash lies on a plain surrounded by hilly wooded areas and fertile basins. Conquered by General Pompey in 63 BC, it came under Roman rule and was one of the ten great Roman cities of the Decapolis League.

Very nice ancient place. Jerash is pretty huge and needs some time if you want to see everything. But it is definitely worth the trip no matter if you visit as tourist or live in Amman. Even in December weather was nice and the sky has an amazing blue color. Make sure to check the times for the gladiator horse race.

Awesome Roman buildings and architecture with quant little shops stocked with beautiful gifts and traditional clothes. take at least 3 hours to walk through the whole site and view all the temples.

One of the many gems you find around Jordan. A place that takes you back in time and leave you in awe at the sheer grandeur this ancient city possessed. I doubt if there is any other ancient city so well preserved anywhere in the world. A must visit place if you ever travel to Jordan.

Very nicely preserved Roman ruins. Has all the elements. There are still standing columns that are very beautiful (they have lead cores which helps it sway in earthquakes).

Lots of solicitors but not that annoying.

Great site.

Definitely come with a tour guide. Not many explanations.

Wonderful ancient city with plenty of interesting sites to see. It does clearly suffer from a lack of funding and the way that the modern city has built up so close to it does take something away from it but still a fascinating place.

One of the well preserved ancient cities, very impressive, a whole history to feel here, must visit. Restroom, wheelchair access, many shops. 10 JD entrance fee

Amazing site. Its massive so you could easily spend hours there. But if you go with a tour group you will probably get 1 hour max - better to go by yourself! As in most of Jordan there are men inside the site who will try to "guide" you, be prepared for them ask for tips afterwards.

Very nice preserved and partially reconstructed area of the old Roman city. Entry is 10JD unless the Jordan Pass is used. If in a rush one can go from Amman with a Sherut (1JD each way) there and spend 2h their to see the ruins.

The Jerash complex has a pretty big campus of ruins that are impressive to explore. It is probably worthwhile to hire a guide. Expect to spend 2-3 hours to wander around the complex. It's all out in the sun, so I recommend wearing a hat & comfortable shoes and carrying some water with you.

Jerash will give you the feeling of somewhat of ancient Rome as it is built with Greco-Roman architecture. You will the place where Gladiators fought, Temple of Zeus, Temple of Artemis, oval forum which looks amazing from top, pillars of churches everything is just marvellous. Just go for each details when visiting this site. You can cover this site in 3 hours more or less.

It is amazing to roam around the historic Roman city of Jerash. The ruins are well preserved. You can see the roman theater and bath houses. It is like walking in to the history. There are some column that are atleast 100 feet talk and the vibrate a little when pushed.

A Roman town around 25 miles north of Amman, in reasonable condition although suffering from litter. The history is fascinating and well presented, and the earthquake damage from the Byzantine period startlingly obvious. It does get very busy particularly on Fridays when families come for a stroll. Can be reached by coaster bus from the north bus complex in Amman at a cost of 1.200JD when we went although the local taxi drivers will swear black is white that there are no buses. Included in the Jordan Pass

Very well preserved ruins of Persian, Greek, Roman, and Muslim periods. Quite impressive! I recommend going after four or so in the afternoon when the sun is less intense, and the light is orange / gold.
