Artwork is amazing! Definitely worth a stop. If you see a tour group walking down just wait ten minutes for them to leave, the inside is small and it will much more enjoyable if you have the place basically to yourself.

Although the place is a bit far (from Amman) it was really worth it. The paintings are amazing. A local guide (who you should tip after) is really worth it, as he explains you the meaning of the frescos.
ATTENTION: at the end they brought us to the beduin tent in the front to drink a tea. There was a guy who apparently worked for the Jordan Tourism Board. That's why we were even more upset when they asked us 3 dinar for the three little cups of tea. Maybe it was just a case because of him but you should better ask for the price before.

انص بزيارته رغم بعده ولكن يستحق
لايوجد تكاليف للدخول
القصر صغير وفي منطقه صحراويه ولا يحيط به شيء.

يوجد خيمه امامه يمكن الاستمتاع بدخولها وشرب القهوه العربيه والشعور بدفئ الحطب.

بحاجه لمزيد من الاهتمام والنظافه والاحترافيه.

Small hunting resort incorrectly called a castle. The paintings inside are definitely worth the the visit. Also a decently preserved example of Umayyad architecture and a World Heritage Site. The small museum at the entrance to the site is very informative.

This amazing place was built in the early 8th century. It was a desert castle that served the Umayyad caliphs. It had a beautiful reception hall and Hammam, both have walls covered with unbelievable frescoes. Strongly recommended!

Amazing this preserved UNESCO world heritage site built in the 8th century. A leaf to be borrowed in other countries. Must visit when in Azraq - Jordan

It's a very beautiful 8th century Umayyad palace that was built on the Caravan rout to serve the Caravan trades.
The palace has an ancient water well of 60 meters deep, used to be protected with a wall against the minor floods and helped to divert the water somewhere behind the castle into a small dam.
The Castle holds 3 Baths, the hot,warm and cold Baths.
All the castle is plastered from inside and covered with frescoes that reflects to us the lifestyle they had then.

Painting of the zodiac can be found on the dome ceiling in the hot bath, plenty of naked women paintings on the wall in the warm bath that is really confusing as we are talking about early Islamic Era here, but obviously the painting never meant as pornography because you can see some of the painted women holding a child between the arms, and the Greek influence is very obvious.

2 small bedrooms decorated with mosaic on the floor, and a visitors hall within the palace can be seen.

One of the best preserved desert castles and a fascinating place to visit. There's a lot of detail to see inside this small building and the guide here is extremely friendly.
