Nicely restored Ottoman fort built by Suleyman the Magnificent in 1531 AD to protect the pilgrim route to Mecca. There were explanatory signs now mostly broken. There are no restrooms on site. If locked, the local guard should be around to open it for you. Good photo opportunities in and around the fort. There are no railings on the stairs or upper level wall ledges. Use caution specially with children. 30 minute stopover on your way south to Petra or Aqaba would do to see the fort and reservoir.
One should be mindful not to disturb anything, and not to litter the place. Therefore, one's garbage should be collected and brought home.response / report this review -
