Castle is fine. It was very crowded at 1pm - recommend going early to avoid all the school groups and tour buses. There are better castles in Jordan.

Great place to visit with friends and family. It has been lit up and designed so that the every part of the castle is visible! Its a good place to consider if you like going through historic monuments.

Amazing historical treasure, with beautiful views up from the hill and from inside the castle, well preserved, in the heart of a great little town in Jordan, had a lot of fun walking and exploring the castle and the kids loved it and we had a great picnic on the lush greenery just outside the castle , overall great day visiting this Jordanian treasure

Interesting site to the North of Amman on the top of a hill that was used to guard the Jordan Valley. I believe that this is the best preserved castle in Jordan. If you had to pick between Jerash and the castle I would pick Jerash, but if you have time for both it is a nice top.

Erected on the top a the hill and inhabited by so many settlers through the ages. It is also called al-rabadth castle after the Christian families who were living inside during early Jordan.

It was my forst castle & I thaught it was pretty impressive. Not a lot of people so you can take your time to explore it in complete silence. Great view of the surrounding area.

Wooooow what a nice ancient castle and place it is so good to visit you feel exciting if you like historical places and it is located on the highest point of the mountain you can see the whole place from the top enter fees 250 cent for jordan and arab 3 denar for foreigners المكان حلو جدا انصحكم تزوروه بجد هتتبسطوا بالمعلومات التاريخية وبقدم المكان بجد اتبسطت فيه جدا

High positioned, wonderful view, small museum inside, an important Jordan history part, kind personal, some souvenirs shops around, also a restaurant in the visitors centre, restroom also, no prospects, difficult to walk up there for many visitors, not clean around visitors centre, the shuttle doesn't work

Great place for historical data and amazing views. The gift shop was simple and hassle free.. Water are a bit expensive half dinar but I guess no argument their you can always bring your own chilld water.

Incredible views. Friendly staff. Met the guy who was restoring the castle and learned about the restoration efforts. It was a relief to not be hassled by souvenir vendors for a change

Great Ayyoubi Architecture. Occupying one of the highest mounts of Ajloun. You will be amazed when you read that the well built castle was performed in six months, water feed sewage systems where used. You can explore the defensive steps followed there.

The place for this castle must have been chosen by a wise strategist. Located on a hilltop, in the West it oversees the Jordan Valley from the Dead Sea, all the West Bank, up to the Sea of Galilee. Even the Crusaders did not succeed to capture it. Today it accommodates a small museum and in clear days (most of the year) offers the same impressive landscape view as in the 12th century when it was built as a military fortress.

Ajloun Castle (Arabic: قلعة عجلون‎‎;transliterated: Qal'at 'Ajloun), also known as (Arabic: قلعة الربض‎‎; transliterated: Qa'lat ar-Rabad), is a 12th-century Muslim castle situated in northwestern Jordan. It is placed on a hilltop belonging to the Jabal Ajlun ("Mount Ajlun") district, also known as Jabal 'Auf after a Bedouin tribe which had captured the area in the 12th century. From its high ground the castle was guarding three wadiswhich descend towards the Jordan Valley. It was built by the Ayyubids in the 12th century and enlarged by the Mamluks in the 13th.

The name 'Ajlun goes back to a Christian monk who lived on this mountain in theByzantine Period.[1] The castle stands on the ruins of a monastery, traces of which were discovered during archaeological excavations.

The castle has been the nucleus of a settlement which has grown to become the present town of Ajloun. The castle's developing faubourg led to its second name, Qal'at ar-Rabad, "the castle of the faubourg" or "the castle with the suburbs". This name still resonates in the surname of a large and reputable Christian family owning most of the agricultural lands in the direct vicinity of the castle until this day, the Al-Rabadis
