yammy berger,nice lady and waiter
Your Jamaican grandparents burger joint, if they ever had one. Polite, quaint and warm service with a quintessential rural Jamaica charm. Excellent homemade veggie plantain burgers and Jamaican style ginger beer. Taste, portions and service outweigh the cost.
Woody and Cherry sure know how to make a good Plantain burger, they serve a nice chilled Red Stripe and also Cherry's homemade Ginger Beer was amazing! (Lots of other choice of drinks too - but who can resist homemade ice cold ginger beer and red stripe).
We spent 3 hours chatting to Cherry and Woody about their 31 years of running 'Woodys Burgers' and learning all about their family and people who've visited and come to eat their food.
We sat indoors in their cool little quirky hut/bar and chatted until our food was ready where they took us to the patio to eat.
The menu for burgers was pretty standard as you'd expect everywhere but I do recommend the Plantain, such good flavouring and subtle kicks of cayenne too. Served in what I think was a brioche.
Great to come for a chat to learn about the area from people who've lived their all their lives, be sure to chat and they'll accommodate you and make you feel like family as we were - also be sure to take some wisdom from the notes on the walls in the bar!
Great simple food, interesting and friendly atmosphere
This is the best place to visit on your vacation to port Antonio jamaica food is awesome staff very friendly and wood and cherry make you feel so homely you don't want to leave.Great place make sure you visit them
Fantastic burgers, lovely quirky atmosphere, great service, very reasonable prices.
Woody's is a lovely little spot decorated beautifully.
Their menu is small and they don't do any chicken but the food is good.
Most of the dining spaces are outdoor but sheltered.
The toilet is an outdoor one but it kept very clean and aside from door that doest fit the frame is much like a toilet you would fine in a Jamaican home.
There is parking available at the entrance to the restaurant and a lovely garden at the back
Love Woody and Cherry hugs from Canada ❤️🇯🇲🇨🇦❤️
Burgers aren't worth the price or rate anymore. Poor service. One must repeat the order multiple times. Don't expect that it will be correct anyway. Unhelpful when my keys got locked in thr car.
I know burgers. Woody's burger is quite different with what you have ever tried in the states in your life. BUT! It is so good. Idk why but it is so good. I want to give a lot of compliments to the atmosphere as well.
This is my favourite restaurant in Port Antonio area; the place is surrounded by the nature and the owners and the staff are super kind and friendly, we had a very welcome from them.
The food is awesome! We tried two different burgers that were delicious (plantain full house - veggie). They made also local's speciality by request. We tried the Rundown as dinner and was very special, made it with a lot of love :) we had a very nice dinner that we won't forget :))
Many thanks to Cherry and Woody! And Daniel too!
Great evening for a Cosy dinner
Rustic mom and pop burger joint. Best home made burgers in Portland!! I stop there every time I go to Portland
Absolutely delicious and the service was great!
Amazing customer care with great burgers
The restaurant has a very cosy and welcoming atmosphere. It's not expensive and I can recommend the Plantain Burger as a must-have.
I love this place. I visited with my mother, Ms. Cherry is a sweetheart. She let us try her home made ginger beer which I have to say was amazing. She recommended we try the Plantain Burger which was full of flavour. The food and experience was really enjoyable. Also you definitely have to try Ms. Cherry's fruit punch! If you're in Port Antonio, either staying or passing by make sure you check out Woody's the food and service is nothing short of amazing. :)
Side note: I edited the place so it now appears in the right location.
